My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Harper has the dubious distinction of being the shelters longest resident. Due to her long stay at the shelter and her past trauma, Harper has developed some fear and aggression towards some men and some barrier aggression with other dogs. Because she is a favorite of staff and volunteers alike, a fund was raised to send her to a board and train program for 6 weeks. She will be in the capable hands of volunteer and dog trainer, Max Alpert, who will work with her specific issues to make her the best dog she can be.

Volunteers raised these significant funds for this special dog because they see the potential in her. When she is around those she trusts, she is a joyful, athletic and often silly girl that loves hikes in the woods, running zoomies, and quiet time cuddles. We sincerely believe that with training, she will be the most amazing companion. She already has some basic commands mastered and is food motivated to make her continuing training easy-peasy. Her board and train has been completely sponsored along with her adoption fee, so your only investment would be time, patience and love. There will also be free follow up visits with the trainer!

Their adoption process

1.

Submit Application

You can see animals that you are interested in online. Filling out an application does not commit you to a specific animal.

2.

Visit the Facility and Find a Pet

Once you have filled out the application, come in and meet the animals. You can change which animal you've applied for!

3.

Interview

While we do not do a formal interview, when you meet the animals, we may ask questions about your family to ensure a great fit!

4.

Approve Application

We process applications Monday-Friday, in the order received. It takes approximately 24-48 business hours to approve.

5.

Meet the Pet

Once you have been approved, we may do a meet-and-greet with resident animals, and all members of the household to ensure a great fit!

6.

Sign Adoption Contract

Sign the adoption contract, pay the adoption fee, and then you get to take your new family member home!

Go meet their pets

Our facility is open to the public from 11-4 daily, with the exception of major holidays.

We also have a thrift store in our building - 100% of the proceeds from this go directly into the shelter. The thrift store is open Tuesday-Sunday from 10:30-6.
