My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Fox was recovering from a broken leg in a foster home- she's all healed up and this is what her foster family has to say! She's still with her foster family, so we will need to set up appointments to meet her.

Hello, I'm Fox, an adorable young mixed breed with lots of energy and a love for life! I will be on the smaller size as an adult. I acquired an injury to my leg (my growth plate separated from the bone) that required immediate surgery. A wonderful veterinarian fixed me up and I'm now healed enjoying life with a foster family who is caring for me.

I'm still in my puppy phase and can be quite energetic most of the time but I also love to cuddle up for naps after a day of play. I enjoy zooming around the yard, chasing my favorite squeaky ball, and wrestling with my doggy pals. I would benefit from a fenced yard where I can safely burn off energy and engage in playtime with my family. I also really like walks around the neighborhood and I've been told I walk really well on a leash.

I can be shy when meeting new people but I've been going to doggie day care to help me work on my social skills. With a little patience and some gentle encouragement, I warm up quickly and will soon be your most devoted friend. I'm making great progress with potty training and with a consistent routine and some patience, I'll be a pro in no time! I'm a smart girl who has mastered "sit" (especially when I think a treat will follow!) but would greatly benefit from obedience training to help me reach my full potential.

I'm looking for a forever home that understand the needs of my energetic breed and that is committed to providing me with daily exercise and mental stimulation.

If you're looking for a loyal companion with a heart full of love, I am the right gal for you! Apply online or stop in to fill out an application in person.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Paws and Claws Humane Society (PCHS) is a non-profit, mostly volunteer organization that rescues and shelters homeless cats and dogs until they can be adopted into their “forever” homes. We want our clients to understand that adopting and animal is a lifetime responsibility and commitment to that animal.

All prospective adopters must show (at the time of adoption) a valid drivers license or other acceptable identification to verify their name, address, and age. Adopters must be 18 yrs of age. Children under the age of 12 years old need to be present at time of viewing shelter cats or dogs.

After submitting an application, there is generally a processing period of 1-3 days in order to complete all pre-adoption checks and paperwork before an adopter may take possession of the animal.

More about this rescue

Paws and Claws Humane Society is committed to partnering with the community to shelter, protect, and seek adoptive homes for abandoned or lost companion animals.

We have served Southern Minnesota for over 30 years and we are the largest shelter in the 8 surrounding counties that does not limit the length of stay for the animals in its care.

Paws & Claws is funded completely on donations and fundraising events and receives no federal, state, county or city funds. We currently have nearly 900 dues paying members.

Paws & Claws has a community fund to help pay for the spaying and neutering of companion animals for those who cannot afford it.

We give over 40 tours and presentations annually, educating the public [including over 400 children] about proper animal care and the importance of spaying and neutering companion animals to help control the pet population in Southern Minnesota.

We have over 110 families that participate in the Guardian Angel Program [sponsoring animals] each month.

Paws & Claws will take in an injured animal and get the emergency medical care that it requires.

Local veterinarians in and around Rochester help Paws & Claws by providing over 145 free spay or neuters each year.

In a typical year the shelter will facilitate adoptions and provide care for over 600 dogs and cats.
