Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Dakota is an affectionate dog that loves attention. She wants to be with someone when they are home. She likes leash walks although she does pull some when she gets excited. She is a family dog that likes to be around people; although I must warn you, she thinks she is a lap dog. She is good with children but does pose a knock over risk to smaller or younger ones. Her ideal home is one where she is an only pet and can be the center of attention, but this is not a requirement. She would be great for a veteran who needs some emotional support and we would be honored to help a service member. She is a large dog and not great at listening because no one has ever worked with her and my training skills are limited, so we making arrangements to get her into a training program. She is being sponsored by one of our supporters so there is no adoption fee for the adopter (s). She has been with the rescue, which is like being in boarding with other dogs, for 16 months. We try to give all the dogs as much attention as possible, but it is nothing compare to a family of her own.

More about this rescue
So MD Animal Rescue is an organization that rescues, rehabilitates, and finds homes for abandoned, injured, sick, abused, and neglected shelter and stray dogs. Once a dog is rescued they are place with us or with a foster family where they receive any medical care and rehabilitation needed to get them ready for adoption. After that, we go to work networking the dogs through various outlets to find them their forever family.
Our organization is based on the premise that all dogs deserve a forever, loving home and that we are here to help them do that.
We also believe that sometimes pet owners fall on hard times and need help temporarily to keep from having to give up their pet. In these cases, we do what we can to help these pet owners keep their pets by providing food and other supplies or financial assistance for needed vet care.
We also strongly advocate for spay/neuter and proper animal care. We provide information to the community about spay/neuter assistance programs, financial aid programs to help with expenses for pets during unexpected illness, information about heartworm prevention and treatment, contact information for local wildlife rescues, and any other information that is needed.
I first started out by volunteering at my local humane society after adopting my first shelter dog in 1990 Through the adoption process I learned how animal shelters work and the struggles they encounter. I have always loved animals, especially dogs, and wanted to help. After many, many years of volunteering and being a pet owner, in 2014, I was finally in a position to start my own rescue.
Our mission is to continue providing all of these services to save the lives of as many dogs as possible until, hopefully, one day, we won't have to.
