Mateo von Addison is a beautiful 14 month old German Shepherd pup. Mateo is a sweet, sensitive, gentle, calm, intelligent little angel with the most endearing floppy ears. A somewhat smaller pup, he is a favorite with volunteers, so the lucky guy is often out on some adventure. He’s the best hiking buddy and a perfect gentleman in the car. Mateo is curious about both people and dogs, and friendly and gentle with everyone he meets. He enjoys attention and affection and seems to want to be friends with everyone! He’s very playful and would do GREAT in a home with another dog who loves to play. He will sit, lay down, stay and come, especially for a yummy treat! He is perfect on leash and has the most adorably happy trot. He loves water, playing with a ball, and playing with dog friends. He's been wary of kittens he met at a cat rescue so we think he might be okay for a home with cats. Mateo will be a WONDERFUL addition to anyone’s family.
IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN Mateo von Addison YOU MUST FILL OUT AN ADOPTION APPLICATION ON OUR WEBSITE: www.sheprescue.org
Based on our experience, Westside's current thinking is to usually match first-time shepherd owners with a mix versus a purebred shepherd. Mixes are "softer" and somewhat more malleable. Exceptions can be made, however, for first-time adopters who show the confidence and leadership tendencies that purebreds will respect and respond to. Counselors have to use good judgment in assessing the attributes of the adopter, as well as of the dog. If you have doubts, get a second opinion from Robin or another experienced counselor.

In order to adopt any dog from Westside German Shepherd Rescue, one must fill out an adoption application first. Upon receipt of your application, a Westside adoption counselor will contact you.We do aerial home checks and you may be asked to supply pictures as well as arranging for a home visit prior to adoption.
Adoption fees vary with each dog and typically range from $150 to $500. They are set, taking into account the dog's age, training level, temperament, if they’re newly arrived, medical condition(s) (if any) and other factors. Adoption fees are used not only to rescue and place the dog you are personally adopting, but to aid in the future rescue and rehabilitation of other deserving dogs. Adoption fees are necessary; without fees, our rescue efforts would quickly come to an end. The adoption fee includes spay/neuter, microchip, and up-to-date vaccinations.
