Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
When some people hear the word “pepper,” they think of “hot” or “spicy.” I’m a one-year-old, brown tabby girl named Pepper, and I am not. Not hot. Not spicy. I was one of the most timid kittens in my litter. There are five of us girls who showed up at a home in Faribault with our mama Papaya when we were about 2 or 3 months old. The woman who lives there started feeding us in her garage. She took us to the vet for vaccinations and had us spayed. She spent time with us to socialize us, because my sisters and I had never been around people. She spent a lot of time with me, and finally, she was able to hold and pet me. I liked that, and I even grew to like belly rubs! That makes me purr. I have been eating Purina Cat Chow. I also love wet food, especially Delectables Squeeze-up Treats and Churu Squeezable Treats. I am playful and I like to play with toys. I love snuggling up with other cats. I do not like dogs. I liked the 12-year-old child who spent time with my siblings and me. My sister Quincy and I are the shyest of the bunch (our mom and the rest of our siblings have been adopted), and we spend a lot of time hanging out together. We’d really like it if we could be adopted together. Pepper and Quincy are sweet, lovable young cats who will come to be a special part of your life.
Adoption fee $100 + microchip fee $30 + tax

Paws and Claws Humane Society (PCHS) is a non-profit, mostly volunteer organization that rescues and shelters homeless cats and dogs until they can be adopted into their “forever” homes. We want our clients to understand that adopting and animal is a lifetime responsibility and commitment to that animal.
All prospective adopters must show (at the time of adoption) a valid drivers license or other acceptable identification to verify their name, address, and age. Adopters must be 18 yrs of age. Children under the age of 12 years old need to be present at time of viewing shelter cats or dogs.
After submitting an application, there is generally a processing period of 1-3 days in order to complete all pre-adoption checks and paperwork before an adopter may take possession of the animal.

Paws and Claws Humane Society is committed to partnering with the community to shelter, protect, and seek adoptive homes for abandoned or lost companion animals.
We have served Southern Minnesota for over 30 years and we are the largest shelter in the 8 surrounding counties that does not limit the length of stay for the animals in its care.
Paws & Claws is funded completely on donations and fundraising events and receives no federal, state, county or city funds. We currently have nearly 900 dues paying members.
Paws & Claws has a community fund to help pay for the spaying and neutering of companion animals for those who cannot afford it.
We give over 40 tours and presentations annually, educating the public [including over 400 children] about proper animal care and the importance of spaying and neutering companion animals to help control the pet population in Southern Minnesota.
We have over 110 families that participate in the Guardian Angel Program [sponsoring animals] each month.
Paws & Claws will take in an injured animal and get the emergency medical care that it requires.
Local veterinarians in and around Rochester help Paws & Claws by providing over 145 free spay or neuters each year.
In a typical year the shelter will facilitate adoptions and provide care for over 600 dogs and cats.
