My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Mama is one 1/2 years old and approx. 55 lbs. She does wonderful with kids and other dogs but cannot be in a home with cats. We do recommend she goes to a home with kids 10+ years of age due to her size and still being young, she sometimes treats the littles ones as a puppy and plays too rough. She does not mean to hurt them, but she does not understand they are not puppies. She's fully potty trained and uses a doggy door. Mama loves people, is eager to please, and is obedient. She love toys and cuddles with anyone who wants to give her loving.

Mama was saved by one of our fosters the night before a freeze. She'd just given birth to eight puppies and was living in an abandoned trailer in a rural area. Her pups are now ready for homes of their own, which means Mama is as well!

She is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and given a Proheart12 in early March. She tested positive for heartworms and the Proheart will prevent new infections and allow existing heartworms to die off in their normal cycle. She will be retested for heartworm in 12 months - this is covered by LHS. She has been in our program since January 2024 and is now a Diamond Dog. These are pets that have been in our program for several months and adoption fees are reduced to help promote these Diamond in the Ruff pups in search of forever homes to call their own.

Her adoption fee is $125 and you can apply for her here: https://legacyhumanesociety.org/adoption-application/

We do not have a facility to house the dogs in our program. They are all kept in foster homes until they are adopted. Therefore, if you are interested in adopting from LHS, please complete an online application at http://legacyhumanesociety.org/adoptfoster/adoption-application/ and we will contact you asap about the status of your application.

Additional adoption info

Adopters will complete an adoption app. If he/she has a pet, we will check their vet reference and a home visit is not needed (as long as the vet reference is current). All pets must be up to date current on Heartworm prevention and S/N. If a home visit is needed, we will complete that ASAP--as we don't want any delays in the adoption process. The adoption fees are listed here: https://legacyhumanesociety.org/adoption-fees/. There is a 5-day grace period to make sure he/she is a good fit for your family. A full refund will be issued if the pet is returned within the 5-day trial period. Before you chose to adopt, check out this link for a few items to consider before making this big step: https://legacyhumanesociety.org/are-you-ready-to-adopt/
