My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Flap Jack is the name, and flat as a pancake was how I was found.... however, I am not flat anymore :):)
So what is my story??
I am a young guy who came to the rescue from a rural pound in really horrible shape. I was literally half my size, couldn't stand or walk and it was assumed I had been hit by a car or a bus or something..............
The rescue that saved me had A LOT of work, time and effort to get me not only pain free and able to stand up.. but ALSO to get me to eat and be comfortable with new people and situations.
You see, it was finally discovered that I was shot and still have two bullets in my hip/leg/pelvis area :(
So I was not really hit by a car :( I was hurt in a more personal way, and no wonder why I was not comfortable around all people....

Fast forward to today, I am a happy and loving boy, with the people I know and some that I haven't met yet. But for my future family, we need to have you meet this big baby several times before you can adopt him. AND you need to be a strong leader for him. He is a great great great dog, but needs to trust his handler to be introduced to others. He is very trainable and he has a trainer who will work with his new family to assure he finds exactly the right home.
We LOVE this boy, very much, and want him to find that perfect family- not a good idea to have lots of people coming and going from your home, kids are too unpredictable so must be an adult only home.
We will be very picky but we absolutely know that this big old lug deserves his own family, we have done everything we can to make him ready for you.... now it is your turn.
Apply to adopt if you are the right family, please! Texas area only, must meet him before any kind of adoption can be approved.
He will give you the best and most loving boy temperament in the biggest baby around :)

Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX only)

Additional adoption info

Adoption application required. Adoption Fee is $200-350 local (Local is state of Texas) $500-800 for out of state adoptions (includes transport fees).. The higher prices for Purebred and/or highly desirable pets. Adoption application, adoption contract, return/foster agreement if dog doesn't work out in home.

We work hard to place dogs in the right homes, if the adoption does not work out and we have room to take the dog back into the rescue, we will. However, the sheer number of needy animals in Bexar county TX +usually means we become full quickly after the dog is adopted. So, in those cases we will post the animal, help the adopter screen applicants and help facilitate finding another home for the dog.
