Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Kili! Kili’s foster named her after Mount Kilimanjaro after learning that wounded amputee warriors climb it as a new start to her life. We couldn’t think of a more fitting name for our warrior girl.
Kili is a beautiful purebred Belgian Malinois, ruffly 1 y/o, and a true champion! Kili was brought to one of our vets by a local shelter to be euthanized because she needed one of her front legs amputated. Thankfully, the amazing staff couldn’t bear the thought of putting her to sleep so they reached out for help. With the support of her amazing foster, we were able to save her and give her a second chance at life!
We don’t know much about Kili’s life before she ended up at the shelter and then our vet. We were told that Kili was tied up to a fence and left by her previous owners. There was no repairing her leg, sadly. We don’t have any idea how long she lived like that. However, she recovered beautifully from her amputation and is thriving in her foster home!
A little about Kili -
* as fast and nimble as ever
* eager to learn and please
* affectionate and loves to love and be loved
* great with her 2 foster fur siblings
* house and crate trained
* knows her basic commands and is working on additional training
* loves tennis balls
* has no trouble getting around, jumping on and off the bed or in and out of the car, going on walks and outings, and doing everything a 4-legged dog can do!
This babe hasn’t let her amputation slow her down! She is a highly-active dog and intelligent dog. She currently walks around 12 miles/day in addition to training and playtime. Kili really likes her crate and walks over to it at night, goes right in and lies down to go to bed without a peep.
Kili will need an experienced owner or family who is dedicated to exercising and challenging her physically and mentally, and who will continue her training. We recommend a house without children or older, calmer children.
Kili is currently being fostered in San Diego. Her amazing foster has provided her a safe and loving home to decompress and start her journey to healing. After a few days of decompressing, Kili has adjusted to her new life on 3 legs. Her foster mom said she’s thriving.
3 is considered to be the perfect number - it represents harmony, wisdom, and understanding, something our babe Kili embodies.
If you’re interested in adopting the pawfect best furiend, one that’s as beautiful as she is intelligent, hardworking, and loyal, then apply to meet Kili! As her foster mom said after 2 days of welcoming joining Kili into her home (and heart) - “whoever adopts this girl is going to be the luckiest person!”
