My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there! My name is Walter. I found myself homeless after my owner passed away. Now that I’m safe in a foster home, my foster mom would love nothing better than to find a new forever home for me so that she can go and rescue more dogs just like me.

Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I really bond to the person that takes care of me. You will be my whole world and I hope that I can be yours. I would really love to find that one person who would be my buddy and take me places and spend lots of time with me even if it’s just sitting on the couch binge-watching TV all day. If you’re active and like to take walks, I’m up for that too! As long as I can be near you, I’m happy!

I am a really good boy too. I am quiet and sensitive and really smart. I learned how to use the dog door almost immediately and know that I should potty outside. I come when called and ride really well in the car. When my foster mom takes me places in the car, I sit in my booster seat and look at her lovingly with my big brown eyes all the way to our destination.

I live with three other dogs, one of which is huge! She doesn’t bother me a bit and my little foster brother and sister and I like to sit together on the couch. In fact, other strange dogs are just friends that I haven’t met yet. I’ve never met a cat so I’m not sure if I would like them, but I’m willing to give it a shot! I’m not a really playful dog and am really happy to just let other dogs take the lead so that’s probably why I fit in so well with my current pack.

I’m kind of a sensitive guy and not that keen on loud, active kids or adults. I’m not sure why I get scared, but I do. For that reason, I would love to have a quiet home to chill out in.

My foster mom says that I am a survivor because I beat heartworm disease. My foster mom took really good care of me for several months and made sure that I took all my medication and kept all my vet appointments. All the people at the vet office were so nice to me and I was a perfect patient. Now that I’m all healthy, I’d really like to find my perfect soulmate to spend the rest of my life with.

Like all my friends at the rescue, they have made sure that I am healthy, fully vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped. Because I’m a senior pet, I have also had a senior exam that included x-rays and bloodwork. They will also provide all my medical records when you adopt me. If you’d like to meet me, please fill out an adoption application!
