My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello, I'm Cody. I have had some rough times here lately. I was brought to LCAS almost two years ago. I was in rough shape. I was not neutered and had bad skin and coat. They neutered me and started me on meds to help but my ears never cleared up or got better. So after almost a year I was placed on the euthanasia list due to medical issues dealing with my ears. The lovely people at the humane society took me in and saved my life.

My foster Mom says I am one of the sweetest and easiest dogs ever.
We think I am about 6yo and 55 lbs. No puppy chewing or shenanigans for me-although I do get the zoomies sometimes! I am not a counter grazer, I don't chew on stuff, I don't get on furniture or beds, I am totally house trained, I don't beg, I am great in the car, and I very seldom bark. When my foster Mom is gone, I have free roaming rights of the whole house. I never have destroyed anything or gotten into any trouble. I can lay around all day and sleep the time away but what I REALLY like doing is going to the dog park. I am a very social guy and I like seeing all my friends there. We love playing and running around together. If my foster Mom can't do that, going for a walk is ok with me. I feel great that I help my Mom get all her steps in!
Most of my friends don't realize that I am very hard of hearing. I can hear shrill whistles, fire alarms and sometimes clapping, but I get along just fine without hearing. A little thing like that doesn't stop me and it is a huge advantage when fireworks go off. I always remain my calm self.
I love to be with people who love me and treat me like a king. Would that be you? I hope so....Come and meet me and you will see what a cool dude I am!!

More about this shelter

Founded in 1971 as the Animal Aid Society of Englewood, Suncoast Humane Society began with a few cages where people left stray animals to be cared for. Over the years, our service area has grown to include over 400 square miles, covering three counties: Sarasota, Charlotte and portions of Lee.
Suncoast Humane Society provides a safe refuge for thousands of lost, abandoned and abused animals from our service area each year. We are committed to our open-door policy of never turning any animal away, regardless of health, temperament, breed or circumstances.
