Amelia is a very beautiful, sweet Catahoula and those eyes! They draw you in! Little is known about what Amelia’s past life was like. She was saved from a shelter, but prior to that she was free roaming. With that being said she is doing amazing with learning commands, housebreaking, crate training, etc.
She does have a bad habit that we are working on, counter surfing! It is hard to say if she has really ever lived in a home, but she is super smart and learns very quickly and adapts so fast!
She really loves other dogs and too date has a fabulous relationship with her foster’s cats. Based upon her personality we would recommend older children for her. Leash walking is still new to her, and she is really doing well with it. She does continue to pull, but she is figuring it all out.
She is very responsive and will come when called. Amelia loves going out and socializing. She loves meeting new people and dogs. Again, this does make her sound easy – but she will need a home consistent with leadership this is a dog that will be a lot of fun!

Once your application has been received and reviewed, you will be contacted via email or phone by one of our volunteers. After your application is approved, the foster parent for the dog you have selected will contact you to answer any questions you may have and determine if that dog is a good match for your family.
If you have no particular dog in mind, we will be happy to keep your application on file and notify you if the right dog should come into rescue. Catahoula Rescue of New England is an all-volunteer group. Dogs in our program are fostered by volunteers. The foster homes care for our dogs as if they were their own. All dogs have received vaccinations appropriate to age and are spayed or neutered.
Amelia’s adoption donation is $450 which includes Rabies, DHLPP, Bordetella, fecal test, heartworm test, is on preventative, microchip and neuter depending on age at time of adoption. If the dog is too young for a spay/neuter then they will be adopted with a spay/neuter contract and deposit. We do not have a physical shelter; all our dogs are fostered in individual foster homes across the New England and Canada.
