My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Please contact Debbie (Deb@AmericanbulldogRescue.org) for more information about this pet.

Dog:Hank

Age:1.5 years

Weight: 65 pounds

Location: Southern Maryland

Nicknames:

Good with other dogs?: Yes.
Hank loves other dogs! He is a very social boy with lots of doggie friends, both large and small. He is excellent at meeting new dog friends on the leash. He currently lives with a female and male bulldog in his foster home. Hank can be oblivious to dog social cues and needs direction from his humans, for instance his foster brother occasionally gets a little grumpy with Hank’s enthusiasm but Hank has no idea and thinks they are the best of friends. When this happens, his foster mom will step in to give the resident dog some space. Hank’s favorite play mates are other friendly dogs who love to run and wrestle.

Good with cats? other: Good with dog savvy cats

Good with children? OK for kids over: 10

Activity Preference: Hope you like to run long distances!

IQ: Average

Hank's favorite things: Hank’s favorite thing is to run and play. A close second is a good chew, like an antler, or stuffy to play with. Hank loves affection and frequently seeks out butt scritches. He is a happy go lucky dude who loves pretty much everything life throws at him. Car rides? Yes please! Going out to dinner? The best time! A walk? All the sniffies :) Training? Let me show you all the things! Treats? This must be heaven!

Hank is good at: meeting people, meeting dogs, staying in a crate, behaving in the house, going for car rides, walking on a leash, playing, catching balls/frisbee, following commands

Ideal home: another dog, a fenced yard, Lots of exercise opportunities

Training Needs: other: Reinforcement of known obedience training

Health issues: None

Meet Hank

Hank is awesome! He is so friendly and social, we can’t believe he hasn’t been scooped up. Hank’s friendly and well behaved demeanor means he can go all the places. Hank frequently enjoys outdoor dining at local restaurants, attends local dog events, watches live music, and goes on vacation with his foster family. Need to leave him home? No problem, Hank is crate trained and is a great boy in the house.

Hank is a young, energetic dog so we are recommending his forever home have a fenced yard so he can get his zoomies out. Hank’s energy is similar to other young, large breed dogs. Hank thrives when he has stimulation to keep his brain or body working. In his foster home, Hank goes on 5k runs 2-3 times a week. On days he doesn’t run, his foster parents spend about an hour a day training, playing, or otherwise engaging with Hank.

Hank would love a doggie friend in his forever home but would also be okay solo. Hank is really just looking for a family that wants to include him.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

To adopt one of our love-a-bull dogs, you must submit an application on our website at www.americanbulldogrescue.org. Applications must meet minimum requirements (policies are listed our site). Applicants have their vet and personal references checked . The next step is a home visit by one of our volunteers. Finally, the applicant will be put in touch with the foster family to arrange to meet the dog! If a happy match is made, the applicants sign an adoption contract and provide an adoption donation. The donation is usually $400.

Go meet their pets

Adoption events will be posted on our Facebook page. Our foster dogs live in homes with our volunteers. We do not have a facility where interested people can visit the dogs. If you are interested in meeting any of our dogs, please submit an adoption application available on our website.
