OTIS- 6 Years Old, House Trained, Potty Trained, Crate Trained, Only Pet, Older Kids.
Otis first arrived stray back in 2019, adopted, then surrendered back to us in 2024 and has been waiting for his furever family since.
Otis is a special guy, It takes time for him to get used to new people and new environments. He will need slow and proper introductions to warm up and show you just how great of a dog he truly is.
Time has grown and so has our love for Otis, He is a staff and volunteer favorite. He has shown to be a loving, silly boy with us staff.
He has met other dogs, but he doesn't enjoy the company. He prefers to be the one and only. Although, He doesn't react to dogs in passing.
In Otis previous home he was able to free roam with no issues inside of the home, even though he is crate trained if needed.
Otis LOVES car rides and is very calm and quiet enjoying the scenery. He enjoys playing with squeaky toys! He does love being a dog and chasing small animals like squirrels and rabbits!
Otis is in a back kennel, Just ask to meet him today. Two years in a shelter is unbearable. Can you be Otis' wish upon a star?
Field Trip with Otis on 10/18/24
I took Otis to meet my daughter at the park and get pictures. He jumped up in the car and took his place, quietly taking in the scenery on the ride. At the park, he barked at my daughter when she walked up, but she threw him a slice of ham and they instantly became friends. He mostly cooperated as we positioned him for pictures, but he loved all the attention from two people. When we got back to the shelter, I took him for a walk on the back trail. He sat there for 15 minutes just taking all the smells around the lake.
Otis the kind of dog that grows on you. He does not like everyone at first, and it’s random who he barks at, but when he does, give him a quality treat and he will usually warm up quickly. He loves to give and receive attention but is also happy to just sit and chill out. He loves fetch when he is in the mood, but he’s not obsessed with it and will often wind down after a few throws.
Come in and meet Otis. With a little patience and some quality treats, you will make friends quickly.
