My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Say hello to Buddy Boy!

Buddy Boy is a 2 year-old Lab/Boxer mix who weighs 53lbs! He is a sensitive boy that likes to take his time getting to know new people, but once he knows you he is a friend for life. Buddy Boy is a happy-go-lucky guy who enjoys spending his free time outside or curled up in a comfy bed. He loves to explore the great outdoors, but definitely enjoys spending time at home with you by his side. He shows potential to live with dogs in his forever home and does well with most dogs if they're a good match. Due to his shy nature, if there are children in his forever home, he would do best with kids ages 13-16 and older. Buddy Boy has a heart of gold and can't wait to show his forever family what a lovable pup he is!

If Buddy Boy sounds like he might be a good fit give us a call at 330-487-0333 ext.226

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

All of our adoptable animals are up-to-date on all age appropriate vaccinations, spayed or neutered, de-wormed, de-flea and microchipped before adoptions are finalized. All dogs over six months of age receive a temperament assessment by our Certified Professional Dog Trainer to ensure appropriate placement. Also, many animals in our care receive basic obedience training to improve manners and increase adoptability.

We are currently doing adoptions by appointment only. Please contact us by phone at (234) 212-9843 or email at adoptions@summithumane.org, and an adoption counselor will return your message. They will review our adoption process, answer any questions, and tell you more about the animals currently available for adoption at our shelter and in our foster program. If we have a match for you and your family, an appointment will be scheduled to meet the animal.

Additional questions can be directed to our adoption team at (234) 212-9843.

More about this shelter

Since 1968, the Humane Society of Summit County (HSSC) has been the trusted caretaker and advocate for Summit County’s victims of animal abuse, neglect, and abandonment and stray animals suffering from illness and injury. We employ two full-time Humane Officers who respond to emergency calls, investigate animal cruelty, and, as warranted, prosecute offenders. We protect and care for our community’s abused, discarded, and forgotten animals. We strive every day to rehabilitate our rescued animals, find them great homes, and provide them with bright futures.
