Here's what the humans have to say about me:
In Rescue, CA - Hi, I am Twix and I am believed to be around 3 years old. I am up to date on all my vaccinations. and neutered. My foster mom is quite amazed with me. I have been so great with her 4 year old grandson. I love him so much. He even named me. He says I am his favorite dog. So I guess that means I am good with kids as long as they don't tease me.
I can be such a couch potato. I love being with my people. I guess you could say I am a velcro dog. If my person is on the couch that is where you will find me. I am good with my foster brothers and sister. We have so much fun. We run and play all through the house and yard.
I am a very good boy on the leash. I love my walks. I working on my sits and stays. I usually come back when called. We are working on that. We are working on my jumping on my foster mom because I get so excited to see her.
I am working on my potty training. My Foster mom thinks I was an outdoor boy before I came to live with her. I am usually the first one out the door in the mornings. But since it is a house full of boys we do mark. So I do have accidents in the house.
I do sleep in my crate at night. I do not like going in the crate if I don't get a treat. So I get a treat every time I go in the crate. I am very quiet in the crate.
My foster mom has been working on grabbing my collar. I get scared sometimes when my collar is grabbed and I don't understand why. I would be happy to continue with obedience training. I try to get out of training by playing. I would do great in either a low energy or very active home. When I was with my babysitter she took me to the lake and it was so fun. I even enjoyed the hiking. When I am with my Foster mom I love snuggling on the couch with her. If I am not on the couch I am at her feet.
My foster mom thinks with the right training I could make a great Emotional Support Dog.
I hope to meet you soon. Thank you for reading this .
Love,
Twix
Additional Comment: I was Twix's babysitter for two weeks while his foster mama was away. I took this opportunity to see what Twix would like. We learned he loves car rides and sticking his head out the window to let the air flow through his hair. He does very well latched into the back. We learned he loves to explore the outdoors. We took him for a hike in the mountains, and he followed us through every trail, up every rock, and over every tree. He loved being out in the world. When we found the river, it only took him a minute to see what my dogs would do, and he LOVED the water.
He's a great lazy day dog. If you want to lounge on the couch, he'll be right beside you. If you're feeling unwell and want to lay in bed, he's the perfect spoon. He'll come find his nook and stay there all night long. He loves food, he's VERY food driven. If he's not eating, you'll know something is wrong. He loves his kibble, frozen broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, and berries too.
He did very well with our household dogs immediately, and once introduced he did good with our cats. The only cat we had a issue with was one that was black and white, she resembles a bunny rabbit. When she ran, he was too interested. We also noticed he will chase outside cats if they run. This can be worked on. We have other small animals in the home. He did take interest but was able to " leave it " when told which is very important.
Twix is much smarter than he lets on. Within a week, he was already understanding our usual commands. We inadvertently taught him " girls! " to come. . . So, he's an honorary girl. He learned when we said place, it meant to go behind the gate threshold in the hall. A family who is willing to polish him will find that they have a wonderful dog in their possession.
