Introducing Sophie (AKA Sophie Girl, Sophie Lynn, & Soph-a-loafs), the newest foster pup. In the 10 weeks that she’s been with her foster Dad, she has really come out of her shell. Sophie is a goofy and playful girl. How can you not love those big floppy ears and derpy underbite? She came to the shelter in January after being picked up as a stray, and sadly like many dogs that are picked up, no one ever came to get her. Sophie is estimated to be a little under 2 years old, and while being labeled as a Pit mix, we swear she’s got Lab and/or Vizsla in her. Here is what we can share in the 2 months that she’s been in foster:
· Crate trained and house broken (we have a consistent routine down). She will go to the back door to tell you she needs to go potty. · LOVES people but can be jumpy when excited. She still acts very much like a puppy. · Knows her basic commands and is VERY treat motivated. · She loves running around the house and you can always find her carrying a Kong, bone, or chew toy. · Walks well on a leash, but easily distracted by birds, squirrels, or leaves that blow by. · She loves to run and burn energy, so an active individual or a fenced in yard would be ideal, but not required. · At this point, we feel she is dog selective. As always, if you have another dog(s), a dog meet is required. · Sophie has done excellent with neighborhood kids (5+). She does like to jump up to give kisses and doesn’t realize her size (55lbs).
Sophie will thrive in just about any home. She’s very playful, affectionate and cuddly, and as a young pup, has many years of love to give.
