My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Serena is a sweet 1-year-old 28-pound terrier mix with long legs and a cute, curly tail. She loves to be outdoors and enjoys soaking up the sunshine. Serena is playful and would love a home with plenty of toys - this cutie carries her yellow ball around with her on walks! She's also an excellent couch buddy and is happy to curl up near you and relax.

Serena can be shy when meeting new people and dogs, but once she's comfortable she loves people and does well with other dogs. She enjoys going for walks, and is gaining confidence with strangers as she walks around her foster family's neighborhood. She also rides well in the car and enjoys going for rides to explore the world.

Serena is not just a bundle of joy; she's also quite intelligent, making training sessions a breeze. Serena is house-trained, making great progress with leash manners and commands (currently working on "stay"). She goes into her crate on her own when it's time for bed (though she prefers to sleep with her foster humans in the big bed!).

Serena is also food-motivated, and eats her vegetables, fruits, as well as twice daily feedings. She knows the sound when you are getting ice from the fridge and will run up, sit, and wait for one!

Serena will need patience and love, and she in return will make you her human! Loyal, gentle, always ready for a walk outside. Her motto is "you go - I go." Ready for adventures.

Are you ready to welcome this charming little girl into your home? If you'd like to meet Serena, please visit

Additional adoption info

We test animals for the following:

Dogs: Good with other dogs, possibly cats, food aggression, walks on leash, noting any other attributes we may know.

Cats: Good with other cats, litter box trained, noting any other attributes we may know.

We cannot test if any animal is good with children. We may know if an animal is possibly house trained, but cannot guarantee any animal in the shelter is house trained. We do not know if a dog is good with cats unless we are advised by a person surrendering the animal. We may have an idea of this depending on how the dog reacts to our community cats that live on the property.

Please visit our website for current fees, and to find out about adoption specials! (The website link is at the top and bottom of this page)
