Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Say hello to sweet Winter! Despite her chilling name, this girl has a warm, welcoming heart! This girl is full of life and is always looking to play. Making new friends is her specialty, and her joy and excitement is infectious. At 45 pounds, she's the perfect size for couch cuddles. Winter loves making doggy friends as well! She has lots of fun playing with her pals in our shelter playgroups, so she would be a great choice if you have a pup at home looking for company. Winter has spent some time in a foster home, where she has been a great house guest! She took a few days to settle in, and now she likes to spend her days chewing on toys, going for walks, playing with dog friends, and even got to visit a dog-friendly patio! She has been living with two cats and has done well, but it did take her a while to stop chasing them (playfully, of course). If you have cats at home, it is best if they are resilient or are used to an exuberant dog. Winter is sure to bring lots of joy into your life, so come meet this sweet girl today!
Winter is currently living it up in her foster home! If you'd like to set up a time to meet her, please reach out to us at 614-777-7387.

You’ll meet an Adoption Counselor to go over applications and discuss the animal you’re considering. We work with you to ensure your family, home and new family member is a perfect fit.
2. We’ll review all the documents and permissions (support from other adults in home, landlord permission and home ownership verification).
3. If your adoption is approved, your new pet can go home with you the same day providing they have had their spay/neuter surgery. If they haven't had their surgery yet, we will let you know when their surgery is scheduled and you can usually pick them up the next day.

For 133 years, the Capital Area Humane Society has been sheltering homeless animals, fighting animal cruelty and neglect, and offering programs to address the needs of animals in our community. More than 92 percent of our funding is provided by donations and fees for services. We are not a government agency, and we do not receive general operating support from national organizations. The Capital Area Humane Society relies on the support of private donors and volunteers to make our work possible.
Since 1883 the Capital Area Humane Society has been dedicated to providing only the highest quality of care for everyone we serve, animals and people alike. We are a team of experts—skilled, caring and compassionate people dedicated to our mission of fighting animal cruelty, helping animals in need and advocating for their well-being.
Our Mission
To fight animal cruelty, help animals in need and advocate for their well-being.
Our Vision
All animals live free of suffering and all companion animals are valued members of loving and caring families.
