Sophie is such a beautiful pup! This girl was a stray on the streets of Memphis when the shelter picked her up. She was set to be euthanized, so we had to help.
Soph is house and crate trained, though the crate is not her favorite place to be. However, for the past few weeks, she hasn't needed to be crated her while her foster works, because she behaves and hasn't gotten into any mischief. But, be fair warned, this lady is very partial to footwear, so if she sees a flip flop or shoe, she thinks it's a chew toy so those must be kept out of reach!
Her foster calls her a sweet and sour patch kid because she can be sweet (loves to cuddle with her human) or she is crazy playful and just wants to romp and wrestle. She does play hard at times, but has now learned to take correction from her foster siblings when she gets to be too much for them.
Sophie does good in the car and in stores and loves to go to doggy daycare and for walks. She is doing much better on a leash. At first she may pull with excitement, but then will calm down. When she sees other dogs, she will stop and watch them. Once her foster gets her attention back, she continues on her journey.
The best home for this energetic girl would be an active one and ideally, she would love to have another young lively dog to run around with and be her playmate.

More about this rescue
PAWS is comprised of a small group of volunteers from New England and Tennessee trying to reduce the euthanization rate (previously 90%) at the Tipton County Animal Control shelter in Brighton, Tennessee. This shelter is forced to euthanize thousands of animals each year due to irresponsible pet owners that do not spay/ neuter their dogs in the area. Millions of dogs in America are euthanized each year due to lack of space and lack of funding to try and find them better homes.
Our mission is to save as many animals as possible, removing them from the shelter, having their veterinary needs met prior to traveling and then finding them loving homes throughout New England. We do this only with the assistance of many people volunteering their time by going to the shelter, transporting the dogs to the vet, fostering dogs who need special care, and arranging for their new and happy homes in this area. Most importantly, we cannot do any of this without those people willing to open their homes and hearts to these lovely creatures.
