Here's what the humans have to say about me:
FIRST STEPS: Please visit https://www.save-a-mutt.org/adoption-application/ to fill out an application - a Petfinder Inquiry is not the adoption process. We don't do meet and greets until applications have been approved. All our dogs are located IN Washington State - we are a local foster based rescue and no transport from another state required. :) Thanks!

Meet Brando. He and his brother were found as strays in sunny California. They arrived from CA and he is now in his foster home! We think they are about 8 months old, and about 30#. It's hard to say how big they will get, we are thinking in the 40# range. DNA says they are Heeler Bully mutts! They are very sweet and beautiful dogs.
Brando's ideal home is one with a large fenced yard and an active life style. We always love another friendly dog in the home. He's crate trained and pretty well housebroken. He may need housebreaking reminders in a new home, but he is pretty smart. Brando is learning all things puppy - leashes and more! His foster has taken him out to breweries and visiting friends. He even went on a Bark Trek adventure recently and the team loved him. Brando is such a good boy. We do think a cat free home would be best - he barks at the resident cat.
This puppy is neutered, microchipped and fully vaccinated. They are also heartworm negative. Many rescue dogs need patience when transitioning to a new home. Our foster homes try to socialize each dog with other dogs, cats, kids and even livestock. We have made recommendations on their best home placement based on our foster home information. He just got cleared orthopedically and is on pet insurance with Embrace. Easy for his adopters to just transfer it to them!
Each dog goes home with a goody bag including collar/leash, toys, chews, Kong, and more. You will receive all medical records, microchip transfer form and other paperwork at the time of adoption.
Save-A-Mutt requires a training contract and $100 refundable deposit (depending on previous dog experience) on our larger breed puppies. You must be willing to start socializing and training as soon vaccinations are completed at 16 weeks. You pick a trainer in your area, and upon completion of a 6+ week training class, we will refund the deposit.
Adoption fee is $325 + $100 refundable training deposit. Save-A-Mutt is a registered 501c3 and half of your adoption fee may be tax deductible.
Save-A-Mutt is a foster based rescue, we do not have a facility to visit. Our adoptions are typically done Monday - Saturday, we are closed on Sunday’s to give our volunteers at least one day off. You must be available to do meets and adoptions during that time frame. We can make exceptions only with the approval of the foster home.
Please note, we have approximately a 300 mile adoption radius - Portland OR area and Vancouver BC is the farthest north. We don’t ship dogs, once approved you must pick them up in Snohomish County, WA. Canadian adopters must be able to come to Stanwood WA to pick up your puppy.
