Here's what the humans have to say about me:
A handsome boy named Phillip has landed with the Golden Retriever Rescue of Iowa.
Phillip is 22 months old. He will need in his forever home another confident dog similar in size and a fenced yard (no invisible fence). He has not been around cats but will be cat tested. Children in his home would need to be 5+.
He is a young, active boy that will require training. We are currently working on the sit command.
He is crate trained and relaxes easily in his crate. He is currently being fed in his crate and has not shown any resource guarding towards humans or other dogs.
Phillip does have a couple of medical issues we are getting cleared up. He tested positive for whipworms and has undergone one treatment for them, but another treatment is scheduled for this week. He will also need to be rechecked the end of February to be sure his fecal is clear of whipworms.
He is also underweight. He came in at 53.4 pounds, however, he is gaining weight and is currently at 58.0 pounds. He will need to continue slowly gaining weight until he has arrived at a healthy weight. He is up to date on vaccinations and completely recovered from his neuter surgery.
We are also working on leash manners. Phillip will need an active family willing to work on leash skills with him.
While he has not had any accidents in my home, he also doesn’t have a clear signal for when he needs to go outside so we make trips outside in regular intervals. I am training him on the bell system.
This boy loves the snow! He actually used his cone as a shovel while he wore it. He also enjoys chewing on bones and chasing his furry foster sister.
Please stay tuned for updates on his medical issues and his progress with training more commands.
