Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Houston is an American Silkie with a beautifully tricolored coat and hair that is longer than most American piggies. He likes to take treats and veggies from your hand through the side of the cage and is very curious.
Check out Houston's bonded pal Rome and you will fall even more in love! HOUSTON & ROME are 3 years old and are truly the best of both worlds. So, if you have room in your heart (& home) for these handsome boys, please fill out an application.
Please know we are working with Adopt-A-Pet to fix the "Apply to Adopt" button on our piggy profiles. Currently, if you press the button, it will open a blank page due to it adding "amp;" to our link between the & and m but if you delete the "amp;" from link in bar, hit enter, it will then direct you to our adoption application OR you can copy the adoption link below and paste it into your browser:
Want to learn more information on fostering or adoption, please visit our Facebook page "Southern Maryland Guinea Pig Rescue" & send us a message or you can email us at: somdguineapigrescue@gmail.com

More about this rescue
We are a small foster based guinea pig rescue in Southern Maryland. Our 501c3 nonprofit rescue's mission is to educate the public on proper guinea pig care and husbandry as pet stores often misinform the public about cage size, nutrition, what is and is not safe, and guinea pigs are often mis sexed or sick at pet stores which leads to guinea pigs being surrendered or worse, abandoned outside. By adopting from rescues like ours, it helps to ensure adopters won't have surprise/unwanted pregnancies, unhealthy piggies, mis sexed guinea pigs while also helping guinea pigs to stay in their furever homes!
