My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Howdy y`all, I`m Bessie, a lovable southern belle with a heart as warm as a summer day. I may be a medium-sized mixed breed, but my affection is as big as the sky. I`ve been on a journey from the sweet South to the picturesque landscapes of Northern Michigan, and now I`m on the lookout for a forever home. My soft fur and soulful eyes are just waiting to bring joy to your household. I`m well-mannered, always up for a good belly rub, and ready to explore the wonders of Michigan with my new family. Let`s embark on this adventure together – adopt me, and let`s make memories that`ll last a lifetime.

More about this shelter

Little Traverse Bay Humane Society is dedicated to providing animals the tender, loving care and attention they need to become adoptable companions.

From our humble beginning in 1951, Little Traverse Bay Humane Society has grown to meet the needs of homeless dogs and cats. Since moving to our state-of-the-art facility at 1300 West Conway in Harbor Springs, Michigan, in 2001, Little Traverse Bay Humane Society has sterilized more than 10,000 animals owned by community members and has placed more than 5,000 animals into loving homes.

In addition to being an adoption center, Little Traverse Bay Humane Society offers a variety of proactive programs to help shelter animals become adoptable companions including the “Pit Stop Program,” the “Ruff-to-Ready Scholarship Program,” “Spay-it-Fourward,” the “Animals Need to Give Everybody Love (ANGEL) Program,” boarding, grooming, daycare, and a full-service veterinary clinic.
