My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hola! Meet Telemundo, a lovely black rabbit with the cutest speckling of white sprinkled throughout her fur. She's a young rabbit who is cautious around new people but will still curiously hop over to inquire what you're doing. When she's startled, she may react with her teeth. We think Telemundo would greatly benefit from having a bunny friend she can learn from, and to see that people can be friends. After all, humans are the ones with access to treats! She needs a patient adopter with bunny experience who is willing to give her the space and time to get more comfortable with people and being a house rabbit. In time, we know Telemundo will be a loving, sweet rabbit.

Telemundo was in a foster home recently, and here's what they had to say about her: "Telemundo is spicy on the outside, sweet on the inside! She's very playful, but also startles or spooks easily. She's a quick learner. I think some of her hostility comes from being bored. She likes to dig, throw toys, and crawl under blankets. She does enjoy being pet once she knows you can be trusted but is still too proud to come and ask to be petted. Telemundo needs an adopter with patience and experience working with rabbits who can work with her on her defensive and territorial nature. She does respond well to positive feedback, like hand feeding greens while petting and talking to her in a soothing voice. She also responds to a loud 'humph,' or 'no,' after she bites or lunges. She will immediately back off and stop the behavior. Moving slowly and calmly around her is best, especially when reaching towards her. She can lunge and bite with quick and sudden movements.

Telemundo is a very adventurous bunny that has no fear of people. She will climb all over you as she explores and enjoys having people around to keep her entertained and stimulated. It is important to mention that she's a 'toothy' explorer and she greets new people and objects with a gentle bite to see what they're all about. Although she doesn't mean any harm, this means she should not be around children since it can scare them. I noticed that she stopped biting me after just a few days of being around her once she got used to me, but she still gives a nibble to any new or baggy clothes I'm wearing to check them out! She is serious about her boundaries, but if you respect them, she will respect you. You know you've earned her trust when she starts doing zoomies and binkies at night followed by big, dramatic flops. Telemundo will be a wonderful rabbit companion to an experienced rabbit owner and will be sure to keep you laughing as she carries out her crazy rabbit antics!

Telemundo is spayed, microchipped, and vaccinated against RHDV2 (vaccine needs to be administered annually). House Rabbit Society recommends all rabbits see a rabbit-savvy veterinarian once a year.

More about this rescue

Since 1988, House Rabbit Society, its supporters, small staff, local chapters, licensed educators, and other volunteers around the globe have been advocating for the care and well-being of rabbits.

Our goal is to help people see rabbits as intelligent and social pets who thrive indoors. HRS’ mission, philosophy, and policies have influenced the formation of many other nonprofit rabbit rescue groups and set a standard for the treatment and respect of domesticated rabbits. As a nonprofit, we rely on membership support and other donations–large and small. HRS financial documents are provided below, which record our programmatic efforts over the past decade.
