My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi I'm Oreo, a 1 year old Border Collie (mix?). I wasn't born in Texas but got here as fast as I could. I came from a hoarder with many other dogs and I was pretty scared. I have been with my foster family since just after Christmas 2023 and I have learned so much. I didn't know what having my own bed, toys or backyard meant until I got here. My current home has given me love and shown me there is so much more to see and do. I have learned that outside is a better place to go potty, though I have accidents sometimes. I am still afraid of going in a crate so we are working through that slowly and will quickly dash in to grab my bedtime snack now. I have learned to get the ball and bring it back, I don't always get close enough to Foster Mom for her to throw it but she just laughs and calls me a goof, then I run inside with the ball and wait in the kitchen for her.

I was a bit on the thin side when I got to my foster and the Vet says I have to wait until I am at least 25 lbs to be neutered. I had made it to 21 lbs.

I can walk on a lead and love going on car rides, I don't bark or make much noise. I can sit, and hold out my paw for a snack, love love love to eat, savor any snack I get. I have a few special toys just for me to chew on. I would love to have a home with another sibling that likes to play and snuggle. I could be okay by myself but am really used to having other pup's company or a human that lets me snuggle close. I don't play rough, hard or long as I still need to build my stamina.

My Quirks, In order to be successful with remembering to go outside to potty, please take me outside when I wake up and just playing (like you would potty train a little puppy). I really love my chest and tummy rubbed, so when you rub me I will try and nibble on your arm. I forget I can pinch you with my teeth, please be patient. I am working on being gentle/easy. Please make sure I am looking at you when you ask me to do something, if I don't look at you, I don't respond - its an attention thing, not a hearing thing. When on a leash, if I fall behind you please don't pull on the lead, if you do I will pancake (lay flat to the ground). Crates: I will panic; it is a place I am very afraid of and will need you to help me learn it is a safe place. If you enjoy helping a special boy learn to be a great companion, please apply at BCRRT.COM. I hope to meet you soon!
