Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hello! My name is Leonard, and I am looking for a Valentine! I am 111 lbs. of simmering love just waiting for a family to become part of! I am 3 years young, but I possess an old soul according to my foster Mom.
Before I came to SCLRR, I lived with a nice family who fed me a lot of goodies and hence I gained a few extra pounds. I have been walking 3.5 to 4 miles a day, not all at once, with my foster family and I really enjoy it. My caloric treats were replaced with carrots, green beans and blue berries and I do fine with those. I do very well on the leash and don't pull. Maybe when I lose a few of these extra pounds I might speed up a little bit!
I am, of course, a perfect gentleman in the house. I am house trained and will go to the door to be let out or I know how to use a doggy door. Once I am outside, I don't want to be there without you, I will bark to let you know I am done and ready to come in. I much prefer being inside with my people. If you want to be outside with me that would be great! As long as we get to be out there together!
I currently live with two other dogs, a golden/lab mix and a small terrier mix. We get along just fine. I sometimes will play with them, but I am content to play with my toys on my own or with my human. There are also two cats in this house. They are a bit annoying and try to tease me, but I don't let them bother me at all.
I need a family that is active and will continue my walks, maybe take me swimming when it warms up ( I do love to swim! And the beach!) and will continue to support my weight loss journey so I can live a long and healthy life.
I wouldn't mind living with another dog or cats, but I don't have to. I would certainly enjoy being the focus of your love and attention! I am a big guy, so little kids that I might accidentally knock over probably wouldn't be the best idea.
So are you ready to be my Valentine? I promise a life full of love and kisses! If you are interested in making this Lab part of your family, please contact your SCLRR family representative.
If you have not yet applied with us, please submit an online application to adopt; an SCLRR volunteer will then contact you. Please note that your homecheck must be approved in order for you to be put in touch with the dog's foster home.
