Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
I found a new home! Plenty of my friends are looking for one too. Check out other pets at this shelter, or start a new search.

Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Sherbert is a very special case. He is a medical miracle - literally! When Sherbert was rescued, he had a BB in his back, a mouth full of rotten teeth and horrible raw paws. Sherbert survived outside and had to fight for his food. PetPromise spent months getting Shebert healthy and he is now ready for adoption to the right home that understands his medical needs. While Sherbert is medically stable currently, his ideal home is with an adopter that understands cats that have multiple medical conditions and will put the time/energy/resources into the vet care Sherbert may need in the future.
Sherbert is a very funny cat, and prone to mischief in the best ways. He has a bit of food anxiety, so will tell you enthusiastically if the food bowl is empty. He loves to play and is VERY smart, almost too smart for his own good. LIke most male orange cats, Sherbert is VERY social, more like a dog than a cat and will come greet new people and enthusiastically ask for pets. He loves to give aggressive head butts, as soon as your alarm goes off in the AM. Sherbert is not a fan of small children and he is very clear with his boundaries :)
As a result, Sherbert ended up with several medical conditions. Don't let these scare you off from this awesome cat! Adopters will need to
- Sherbert has been exposed to the FELV virus but shows negative currently on the FELV PCR test. Best guess is that he has a localized FELV infection but has remained stable for years. He is currently housed with cats that are FELV vaccinated and no transmission has occurred.
- Shebert is FIV+ and shows no signs of active disease. FIV+ cats can live long, healthy, fulfilling lives when given proper care. Further information on FIV in cats: https://www.vet.cornell.edu/departments-centers-and-institutes/cornell-feline-health-center/health-information/feline-health-topics/feline-immunodeficiency-virus-fiv
- Sherbert has a slow digestion and occasionally has an upset belly but this doesn't stop him from eating with gusto. He doesn't require any special food - Shebert will eat anything you give him :)
Feel free to email pets@petpromise.org with questions about Sherbert! He is a darling boy that deserves the best of homes with an adopter that understands medically challenging cats.
Sherbert's adoption fee is $90. Please complete an online adoption application at petpromise.org/adoption-application if you are interested in adopting Sherbert.
We do our best to ensure that all of the PetPromise pets and their new owners are the perfect match, so the adoption process includes a mandatory home visit; for that reason, adoptions outside Franklin County, Ohio and contiguous counties may not be possible.
PETPROMISE DOES NOT HAVE A SHELTER. Our pets are housed in volunteer foster homes while awaiting adoption.
PETPROMISE HAS NO PAID STAFF. The people processing applications are volunteers with full-time jobs and families, so it may be several days before you receive a response to your application.
