Hi, I’m Barney, a sweet, gentle boy who loves to cuddle and meet new friends. I am looking for a loving human or humans to make me part of their family. I am about 2 years old and I have a happy, calm personality. I love exploring the yard, going on walks and taking naps by the fireside. I have a beloved older foster sister that I am very good playmates with. I share her toys, borrow her clothes and follow her everywhere she goes. I love my foster family because they feed me lots of treats, play fetch with me in the yard, and give me the best head pets and scritches. I'm well behaved around the house, but I am still learning how everything works. I am a youngin' after all. The first time I saw stairs, I didn't understand how to go up or down But I have it down now. I am still a little bit shy of this big world but will be your best friend if you are gentle and slow with me at first. I learn very well with my favorite treat in the world - hot dogs! I haven't met cats yet. But so far, I am friendly and social toward other dogs, with slow and proper introductions, of course. I’ve got a whole life ahead of me and I’m eager to meet you so we can get started on it together. Apply today to meet me so I can be your new BFF. Prepare to fall in love! Adoption fee: $80. Adopt a pair: $120. Fee includes testing, deworming, vaccinations, spay/neuter, 30 days of free pet insurance, one session with a certified behavior trainer and microchip.

NOTE ABOUT BREED LABELING: Visual breed identification of dogs is unreliable and usually inaccurate. So, for most of our adoptable dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog
as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.
Why is labeling a dog such a big deal? A label will stick with a dog for the rest of its life. A label can mean discrimination, losing its home or even death. Labels are a problem for the dogs when we, as the local experts on animals, allow adopters, politicians and community members to think that the label we assign can predict who that dog is or will be.

Adoption Process: Complete the application at
www.pawsforliferescue.org. We then arrange a location, date and time for you to meet some pets. If the meeting goes well and everyone is happy, you begin the mandatory, minimum two-week adjustment period with the pet as part of your family. You will pay the non-refundable adoption fee at the start of the two-week adjustment period. This pending period allows your new dog or cat time to adjust to their new home, new people, new routine, etc., and for you to decide if it's a match and the right pet for you. At the end of two weeks (some people extend the adjustment time as needed and that's fine too), if everyone is happy, then we finalize the adoption. Feel free to email if you have any questions.
