Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.

Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Chance the German shorthaired pointer came to us on December 2nd, an emaciated and terrified puppy that our vet estimated was between 4-5 months old. It was clear he had been underfed and treated unkindly, and he had zero potty training.
We immediately had him seen by our vet and started on a careful re-feeding protocol to safely put weight on him, while we made sure there was no underlying health issues causing his emaciated condition.
Chance is now a healthy weight and vaccinated, but even better - he’s been getting socialization with a pack of GSPs in his foster home at Becket Hill GSP running and building muscle, and learning how to be a dog. Chance is still a fearful guy in new situations, and will never be a gun dog. But when he is comfortable, he is a goofy, energetic maniac like a GSP puppy is supposed to be.
Chance loves kids and other dogs. He can be wary of new people until he knows they are safe. He is now crate trained and almost totally potty trained, but some accidents are to be expected in a new place til he learns the routine. He has exactly two speeds: ZOOM and unconscious. He is about 6-7 months old so he’s not done growing, and he weighs around 35 lbs currently (he was 16 lbs when we took him).
The type of home we are seeking for Chance:
GSP experience is a must. Another playful/balanced dog in the home is a must. Some room for him to run is a must. He is trained on an invisible fence or a physical fence would be great too. Respectful kids are fine, we can’t make any promises about how he would behave with cats. Adopter should expect to continue puppy training - he needs continued socialization outside in the world. Chance is up to date with puppy shots but still needs to be neutered and chipped which is included in his $500 adoption fee and must be performed at our vet - we are giving him more time to grow first.
Adopter should be local to CT - we are not transporting this dog after everything else he’s been through.
Please submit a complete application here and give us a couple days to respond as we are entirely volunteer and all have full time (non rescue) jobs - we work on best fit, not first-come basis. If you did an app for Chance in the past, please do another one as volunteers are only looking at apps that come in from today forward.
