My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

PAISLEY is a 9 yr old spayed female SHI TZU. She is WHITE and weighs about 8- 9lbs.

This baby girl needs a home that someone is retired or can spend tons of time with her. She is THE MOST LOVING little one we've had in quite some time. She is spayed, groomed, will potty outdoors but much prefers her pee pad (taught from her owner) We don't use a crate, unless we take along trip.

Paisley is heartworm negative, dewormed, rabies, UTD on vaccines and microchipped.

So a little about her background, we got her from a protective custody situation. Her owner was 88 yrs old, got her when she was only a puppy. Loved her to no end, took THE BEST care of her. She became ill with cancer and her best friend and neighbor of over 70 yrs helped with shopping and driving. They were both widows, and married friends from the service, the two couple did everything together, including building homes next to one another.

Fast forward, the owner had 3 so called grown kids in their 50's all with addiction issues and once she became very ill they all moved in with her, but not to care for Mother as you would suspect, but to take advantage and spend her money. Time goes by and the neighbor sees her friend less and less. She wakes in the wee hours of the night of a bright light shining in her bedroom. She looks out to find the 3 adults kicking this poor girl, Paisley off a deck more than 20' off the ground out into the yard like a football and then toss her back, laughing and having a grand time. She calls the Sheriff Dept, they come out, but the worst has yet to be discovered. The Deputy smells a very strong odor and has reason to enter the home to find THEIR MOTHER was deceased and had been several days. All 3 were arrested, two got out quickly, one didn't as they has previous warrants.

The neighbor offers to keep the dog, thinking that was the end of it. But it wasn't. She takes Paisley to the vet to find they has shattered her optical nerve in the right eye. About a month later as she was returning from shopping and taking Paisley to the groomer, she comes home to the Fire Dept at her home and her home has been set on fire.

This story goes on and on. But the bottom of it is,the 90 yr old lady was so scared of what may be next and not sure who set the house on fire, she asked our rescue to please take this baby and save her. We took her but couldn't do anything other than foster for quite some time. She is now ready to move to her forever home and get the life she had with her owner and live healthy.

Paisley is so loving and will be in your chair before you are so you both can get comfy. She requires sleeping on the bed with you. You will need to put her up there as she is only 9lbs of pure joy, love and a little sassy to go with it. This baby LOVES our 10yr old grandson. He can't walk in the room she doesn't sit with him. If he's outdoors, she will watch him at the door if he's nearby. She is good on harness and leash. She is great for the groomer, she goes every 2 weeks for baths, on the 6th week she is groomed. We never leave her outside alone. Anything could happen, hawk, coyotes, fox, due to her small size and this is very true for daytime as well.

She has learned stuffed toys are the best thing ever and she loves to play with them in the morning and late evening before bedtime. She loves riding but it does take her a few minutes to settle in and then she is fine. She is great with two large dogs here, and 8-10 small ones, still larger than her. She is the boss and keeps them all in line. Paisley has developed some allergies so she is on a small amount of apoquel. We recently started using a different food and lessening the apoquel and she is doing awesome. So we think with diet change, she may be able to discontinue the meds. This family will miss her tremendously, she has grown on us. But we take them in to love them, teach them, and rehabilitate them if needed and find them a forever family. I will be very picky of who adopts this baby girl. She has been through the mill and I only want the very best for her.

Her fee is $150. We do not ship animals, nor do we hold animals. If you aren't ready to adopt now, please do not apply until you're ready. We are all volunteers and you will need to be patient as we get your application processed.(up to 14 days, not including Sunday)
