Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Baxter is a youngster of a sheltie boy and just turned one year old and has a huge about of energy. Baxter is very friendly and loves to explore, and like may puppies will get into things if not supervised. He needs to have an energy home that will give him plenty of physical activity as well as mental activity as he is one very smart sheltie boy. While Baxter is perfectly house trained, he will need a home that can continue to work with his social skills as he does bark at cars, does do his alert barking and likes to jump up with his front paws, so he will need some additional training work and getting into a regular socialization and obedience class would be a huge plus for Baxter.
We feel Baxter would do best in a home that knows and understands a very active sheltie and the herding breed in general, and a home that is familiar with obedience training classes and willing to work with Baxter. He would do excellent in agility sports and any dog sport that would challenge him both physically and mentally and work side by side with his new owner. This would be the best home and fit for this active boy.
Baxter is great with other dogs and loves to play with them and run and chase. He would also do fine with a cat or two as long as he is supervised when meeting them. With Baxter's energy level, we will not adopt him to a home with small children and children must over the age of 12 as he could knock down a small toddler.
Baxter is 30 pounds and neutered and up to date on all of his vetting care. He will need a SECURE FENCED IN YARD and we will not many any exceptions. We do require an application that will consist of reference checks and a home visit and we adopt within the state of PA or just over the PA state lines but will not consider a long-distance adoption as we require a home visit with one of our volunteers. If interested in more information or completing an application, please contact us at Heart's Promise Sheltie Rescue, pasheltierescue@gmail.com or mikelamontshelties@gmail.com
Baxter is being fostered in the Allentown, PA area. We have a downloadable adoption application form on our webpage if you feel you have a good energy home for Baxter. Our Webpage address is: http://pasheltierescue.org/
