Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hershey is a 5 yr old spayed female mini Schnauzer. She is liver color and weighs about 16lbs. She has never been tested with kids, but we think kids over 12 would be fine. She has been with many other dogs, but she is very jealous and has snapped at several of the others when they get the attention, so for this reason we feel it's best for her to be an only dog. She is great with cats though, will play with them all day long.
Perhaps the jealousy comes from these puppy mill dogs lived in an environment where they were never handled and given ANY love or attention. It was simply toss the food on the ground to them and move on, until time to breed them.
We have worked with each to teach them to eat out of bowls and be handled, touched and loved on a lot. They are picked up daily and handled and maybe this is causing her jealousy as she wasn't this way in the beginning. Now she just wants her human to herself. Although from their way of living, we can't much blame them. They now know there are many good humans to give them what they need and want.
This girl is heartworm negative, dewormed, and microchipped.
Hershey is a very loving girl. She came from a horrific puppy mill with over 100 other dogs. The poor girl knew nothing except to produce puppies. She is now house trained and lives inside a home and is doing quite well with her foster family. She does need work with leash walking. But otherwise if you're looking for a gal who wants attention and follow you around, Hershey is your prize.
She would do best in a home if there is someone home often and perhaps another small dog. A fenced yard is required.
Her fee is $400. We do not ship animals, nor do we hold animals. If you aren't ready to adopt now, please do not apply until you're ready. We are all volunteers and you will need to be patient as we get your application processed.
Hershey is being fostered in Fremont, NC. You must be willing to drive there for pick up at adoption time.
Please do NOT complete an application on this site, we cannot retrieve it and we never charge for completing an application.
