Update 11.8.24

Meet Zeke, the Charismatic Country Boy!
Are you ready to fall head over paws in love with a dog who will capture your heart with his affectionate nature, playful antics, and rugged charm? Look no further than Zeke, the lovable Boxer/Mastiff cross who's been stealing hearts in his foster home for the past month.
This gentle giant loves people, and people love him right back! Zeke is a social butterfly who thrives on human interaction, whether it's cuddling up on the couch for movie nights or greeting new friends with a wagging tail. His friendly demeanor makes him a perfect companion for families, singles, and seniors alike.
Zeke is a natural-born cuddlebug who adores snuggling up with his humans, but he's also happy to be an only dog, enjoying all the attention and affection to himself. He's lived harmoniously with another dog in his foster home, but we recommend a slow introduction to ensure a peaceful coexistence (don't worry, our rescue team will guide you through the process!).
This country boy loves the great outdoors, where he can explore open fields, sniff out hidden critters, and enjoy long walks (3-4 miles a day, no problem!). His leash manners are a work in progress, but with treats and positive reinforcement, he's learning to walk nicely by your side. A word of caution: Zeke can be reactive to unknown dogs, so patience, consistency, and reward-based training will help him become a pro.
Zeke is a clever boy who's crate-trained and prefers to sleep in his cozy crate at night. He's vocal about his needs, so you'll always know when he's ready for food, playtime, or a potty break. This foodie loves treats, especially bones stuffed with peanut butter, bananas, and frozen carrots. To prevent gobbling, he uses a slow feeder or puzzle feeder, which keeps him engaged and satisfied.
One of Zeke's quirks is his sensitivity to foot touching or unexpected contact. However, when he initiates affection, he's happy to be petted and adored. He's also a strong boy who benefits from an Easy Walk harness, which helps him walk nicely without pulling.
Zeke is currently working on his fitness goals, and with smaller meals and more exercise, he's on the path to a healthier, happier him. If you're ready to provide a loving home, plenty of exercise, and a gentle touch, Zeke will reward you with a lifetime of loyalty, laughter, and snuggles.
Are you ready to bring Zeke into your life? Contact Minnesota Boxer Rescue to learn more about this charming companion and how you can make him a part of your family!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Our adoption process consists of:

I. Completing an Adoption Application

II. Veterinarian and Personal Reference Check

III. Home Visit

IV. Adoption Fee

I Completing an Adoption Application
We screen potential adopters very carefully in order to find the best possible match for both you and our foster dogs. All adoptions are expected to be lifetime commitments!

You must be a Minnesota resident, and at least 21 years old.

All existing pets in your home must be up to date on all vaccinations, and must be-spayed/neutered (no boxers will be placed into homes known to have intact companion animals.)

We require that you complete the entire application including the contact name/ phone number of veterinarian, and personal references.

We as volunteers would like to observe the interaction of the Boxer child/children together.

We will disclose all known behaviors, health or emotional issues to applicant prior to adoption.

Fenced yard is required to adopt a deaf dog.

II Veterinarian and Personal Reference Check
Once your references are checked, a volunteer will contact you to discuss potential matches and to schedule a home visit.

III. Home Visit
The purpose of the home visit is to inspect the surroundings in which our foster dogs will live, meet all household family members, address any major concerns, and get to know you better. (We are not at your home to pass judgment on your housekeeping skills.)

During this visit we will set up a date for you to come and meet the Boxer(s) you are interested in (we ask that you bring your family members as well as your existing dogs)

IV. Adoption Fee
Our adoption fee is based on the age and health of our dogs. The fee can range from $200 - 450.00, with $350 being the average. We will not negotiate adoption fees. This is not a "sale" but a fee that enables us to continue to help more Boxers in the future.

Your adoption fee covers:

Physical veterinarian exam
Neuter/Spay
Rabies
DHLPP
Heartworm Test and preventative meds
Fecal Test and any necessary worming
Bordetella
Microchip implant
Any other treatment deemed necessary by our vet

As you can see, our adoption fee covers numerous expenses. Your potential new Boxer will be
covered for all necessary inoculations for the first year. We will provide copies of all services rendered while the Boxer has been in rescue.

Please visit our website at https://minnesotaboxerrescue.com/ to complete an adoption application and begin the process.

Go meet their pets

MN Boxer Rescue is 100% foster based. We do not have a shelter or central location where dogs are housed. Visit the events page on our website to find out about our meet and greet events.

More about this rescue

When Boxers are in need, Minnesota Boxer Rescue dedicated volunteers respond. Our mission includes hands-on rescue, as well as education.

Many of our beautiful Boxers have had a very "ruff" start, for various reasons, please be assured that we have dedicated ourselves to helping as many of these dogs as we possibly can.

When a dog comes into our rescue program they are examined by our vet, brought up to date on vaccines, heart worm tested, (placed on heart worm preventive medication) and fecal tested. All dogs are spayed/neutered prior to adoption. We evaluate each Boxer's personality and temperament, so he/she can be placed in the best home suited for that dog.
