Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Mia Marie On January 10, an Animal Control Officer picked my brothers and me up and brought us to the HSHC. Despite the upheaval, I, the eldest of the cats at 13-years-old, have shown remarkable resilience. I am such a sweet-natured, gentlewoman that it was decided that I would benefit from living in a foster home, and that is where you can still find me. My foster mom recently shared her impressions of me.
Mia Marie is a total sweetheart. She`s not a lap cat, but she will come up to me in the morning and ask to be picked up and held over my shoulder. Mia likes her back rubbed and just purrs her little heart out for it. She likes toys and catnip, and during the night, she`ll yowl while carrying her toys around. She walks around collecting several toys, puts them in her bed, surrounds herself with them, and then goes to sleep! It`s super cute! Mia Marie is immensely easy-going and friendly with everyone! She didn`t need one second to decompress but immediately demanded out of her quiet room and went up to everyone, including the 110lb Malamute, with zero fear. It was an instant harmonious coexistence. Mia Marie adores naps in the sunshine, a testament to her peaceful nature. She is a very good little old lady. She requires an adopter willing to medicate her for pain twice daily. However, she`s easy to medicate! I hope this information helps me find my forever home! 12-3-24

With an open admission policy, a No-Kill philosophy, and more than 3,100 animals crossing our threshold each year, we have still maintained a 98% placement rate over the last 3 years.
This is an amazing feat for any organization…let alone one that takes in some of the most abused, injured and seriously ill animals imaginable.
