My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This little beauty is Bristol. AKA Luca, Luca B or Lukey. To our best knowledge, she was born in January 2020 in Cleveland, Texas. Like many dogs that end up in rescue, she was part of a litter of puppies that were simply unwanted. She spent the first year of her life living in an outdoor pen unaltered with two of her brothers. Luca came to Minnesota almost three years ago and she's lived here knowing nothing but love and kindness. She has always been a very fun and happy girl and she loves being the boss of her current furry brothers. She also loves her human sister immensely. She doesn't mind the cat but she does bark at him when he walks by her kennel at night. Unfortunately, the house that she lives in is very busy and there is a lot of increased activity as her human sister gets older. Luca has shown that she does not handle the commotion or change very gracefully. We have been working with her for a while however she is a herding breed dog and takes her excitement out in the form of nipping much like you would see in a cattle dog on a farm. Her family has sadly decided it would be best for her if she could live out her days on a farm or with an active human or couple of humans. Luca is kennel trained, potty trained, walks great on a leash, loves going camping and loves to cuddle and give kisses. Just don't squeeze her too tight because she doesn't like it. We know the perfect family is out there for her and until we find it, she's safe with her current family. We truly want the best for her!

Bristol's adoption fee is $400 plus MN tax which covers her spay, vaccinations, microchip and any additional medical care she may have needed while in the rescue's care. We are a foster based rescue, we do not house dogs at a facility. Age and breed are NLR's best guess as we often don't know who or what mom and dad are. Go meet their pets

Northern Lakes Rescue is foster based so all dogs are being fostered by amazing volunteers across the state of MN. Because of this, we require all meet and greets to be scheduled after an application is submitted.

Our focus after you apply is to get you scheduled to meet the dog within 3 to 7 days.

More about this rescue

Our Vision is to be a voice for those who are voiceless. We hear them with our hearts and give them a voice. Looking into the eyes of a rescued animal will speak volumes; watching those eyes light up will have an everlasting impact on you and the rescued animals.

We aren’t a typical rescue as we don’t take in dogs and put them in kennels until they’re adopted. All dogs we rescue are placed in loving foster homes that teach them to be the best dog they can be.

Our journey doesn’t end with adoption, either. We are here for you to support you in integrating your new member into your home, cheer new triumphs, and help with struggles.
