Pretty girl Kate comes to DREAM for a fresh start with her brother and best friend, Tony Tatum. From a rural Georgia county, she has spent her entire life sleeping outside in a doghouse.
Since the moment she's been with her foster mama, she has been a delight and a ray of sunshine. TOYS! SOFT BEDS! LIVING INSIDE! As you can see, she's a gorgeous little lass, as sweet as honey, too.
Kate sometimes gets nervous about things that are outside of her comfort zone, and has reportedly had a few stress induced episodes of minor seizure activity. We expect that with her involvement in being a part of a family and being introduced to the normal goings on of life, these things wont worry her anymore and she'll be fine. Of course, we had her checked out thoroughly by our group of fantastic vet partners and she hasn’t had an episode since being in her DREAM foster home.
And just as a testament to her smarts, Kate appears to have taken to potty training like a duck to water; how's that for Mensa?
If you are interested in adopting Kate, you can fill out an application right on our website! Go to our
online adoption application. Kate's adoption fee is $400.
All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. Kate will go to her new home microchipped, spayed, heartworm tested, up to date on vaccinations, and with all other medical needs addressed.
Almost every dog's veterinary expenses exceed our adoption fees; we are not-for-profit.
DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group. We focus on the metro Atlanta area and can assist throughout the state of Georgia.
Since our rescue is entirely run and staffed by volunteers, our ability to travel long distances for adoptions is somewhat limited. We focus on Georgia, but if you are in a neighboring state, we might be able to work something out - we'll expect you to do your part.
DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a doxie's back.
