My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dixie is a very active dogs, loves to be where the people are and wants to play. "Her" human, the child in the family, is going off to college and she cannot go with her. Her siblings are teenagers and just busy all the time. Dixie's mom and dad work full-time, she is now just sitting in a kennel all day. She needs a place to run or people who are home to play with her. She is not living her best life at our house with our new schedules.

Dixie has been through formal K-9 training. She knows commands and loves walks. She loves to play tug-o-war with her ropes! She also prefers to come in and out on her own and us used to letting herself in and out, she likes his AC but also to sunbathe. We are looking for someone with time to lay on the couch with her, play fetch, and go on walks!

Thank you for adopting and not buying!!! Every week hundreds of highly adoptabledogs are put to death by local shelters. Most people would be amazed at the purebred and beautiful dogs available, if they walked into their neighborhood shelter.

Rescue organizations, like mine, work hard to save as many as we possibly can but is a never ending process with breeders and Puppy Mills selling unhealthy animals to the public. If you EVER saw a puppy mill you would NEVER buy again!

All of my dogs are neutered or spayed, vet checked, completely vaccinated, wormed, groomed and checked for heart worms. They are all are current on Heart worm medicine, flea, and tick medications. They are all microchipped as well.

Adoption fee is $300 to $350 (older "friends' can be less, please inquire. Puppies are $350 - Besides fully vetting all dogs, some of of the dogs I rescue, 1 in 5 I rescue have heart worms which is very expensive to treat. I also take in dogs who need surgeries and are close to death.

More about this rescue

About us: Cody was the first pet I owned as an adult. He was a Shih Tzu that I bought unknowingly, from a Puppy Mill. He fought for his life and barely survived, suffering for the first few months of his life. From then on I was stirred by a ferocious passion to save as many dogs as I could through networking with other rescue groups and saving the ones I could off of cold streets and unwanted in shelters. Cody did not live a very long life due to a weakened body, but I was able to love on him for eight good years! He will always be loved and forever remembered. With over 400 dogs rescued so far, we ARE making a difference!!
