Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Moxie
Moxie is a female calico DSH
DOB: September of 2023
Adoption fee: $75.00
*SPECIAL NEEDS ADOPTION*
I'm a very playful girl and I love attention on my terms. I am what you might call sweet but spicy! I am on the go 90% of the time, when I do slow down, I love to give gentle face pats on you and will offer a kiss or two. I need a very slow introduction to new environments unless I am the only animal. I do not mind playing with Blue Bell; we have developed a love-hate relationship and play rough together.
I am strongly suggested to go to a home with children 12+ who have been raised around fisty kittens or cats and understand rough play with kittens like me can develop into hard-to-handle adult cats. I am not for a first-time cat owner. I should do fine in a home with another cat looking for a playmate, however, I will need a very slow and long introduction to anything new. I could also be good as an only pet. I would do okay in a home with a cat-friendly dog with a proper introduction. I don’t mind being handled, but I will let you know when I am ready to be put down.
I am quite the character; I believe I do have the true calico trait of being a stinker. I am a spitfire and live up to my name; I will make a purr-fect companion for the right person, couple, or family

About Us:
We are the area's nonprofit advocate, sanctuary and source for companion animals since 1887.
Our Mission:
-to protect animals from suffering and cruelty
-to provide safe and responsible care for unwanted or abused companion animals
-to enhance the lives of animals and people through education, adoption, and foster care.
We believe in second chances at the Humane Society of South Central Michigan. Our service area includes all of Calhoun County and parts of Kalamazoo, Barry and Branch counties. We keep animals as long as it takes to find a good home for adoption once the animal passes temperament testing and is checked for good health. The Watkins Road shelter cares for up to 100 animals a day, and adopts out more than 500 animals a year. Countless area residents use the Society’s animal care, adoption and education programs each year. The Humane Society is overseen by a board of directors. We do not receive any government or tax dollars, or national humane organization funding. Our services are made possible by people in our community who care about homeless cats and dogs - people like you!
The Humane Society of South Central Michigan values:
-The ethical and humane treatment of animals
-Its role as a shelter for animals that suffer from pain, fear, and neglect
-Community accountability for the welfare of its animals
-Responsible stewardship of our resources
-Community involvement to achieve our goals
-Education about responsible pet ownership
-The joy of sharing a life with animal companions
