Meet Cookie!

Got a sweet tooth? This girl will satisfy your cravings! She's goofy, playful, affectionate, and up for any adventure! Whether it's a walk through town, a hike in the mountains, or even just a nice lazy day on the couch, you can count Cookie in!

Cookie gets along well with other dogs and communicates her boundaries very well! She can match a dog's playstyle but she is perfectly content with just coexisting peacefully as well. When she does get to playing you won't be able to take your eyes off of her! The way she zooms around her yard and throws her butt in circles will surely keep you laughing and smiling. She will even on occasion zoom right until she gets to your feet and then roll over asking for belly rubs!

Cookie would love a moderately active home with a fenced-in yard for her to play in! Though she tends to me on the more mellow side, she still has her active and playful days and needs a good outlet for her energy! Does this sweet girl sound perfect for you?

Thank you for considering adopting a Rescue Ranch dog. While they are with us, each and every rescue dog receives the best of care in a loving and nurturing environment. Their routines include daily playgroups or partnering with dog buddies, quality time walking or being groomed, and two meals a day with dog biscuits for dessert.

All of our dogs receive the best in veterinary care and are spay/neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative, and fully vaccinated.

The standard adoption donation fee for all dogs and puppies is $300

You will first need to stop by our rescue and meet our dogs! If interested in one of our dogs you will need to fill out an application. We also do a home visit if in the area, to make sure you have a secure and a dog-friendly environment. If out of the Siskiyou county area we can easily make other arrangements. Our adoption donation is $195.00. We have a reduced rate for seniors, the disabled, and veterans. Our "Senior for Senior" program offers a further discount and can help with the cost of dog ownership. The adoption fee for puppies who grew up at the Ranch (or in foster here) includes spay/neutering when old enough and is $295.00. All of our dogs are up to date on shots, heart worm tested and any medical issue are treated. Every dog that is going to a new home must be spayed or neutered before they leave Rescue Ranch.

More about this rescue

Rescue Ranch is a small no kill shelter. We have kennels for 22 dogs. We primarily take in dogs from city and county shelters in Siskiyou County before the dogs are out of time due to space limitations. We also make 3-4 trips a year to county shelters in central California to save smaller dogs that can overwhelm shelter resources in those counties. We started about 18 years ago with 40 acres far outside Yreka and were able to help many dogs in the county due to the efforts of the founders and many volunteers. In August of 2009 our new facility opened. We are now about 2 miles outside of town on 10 acres. We have been steadily growing through the efforts of the committed staff, volunteers, and volunteer board members. In 2012 we had 80 adoptions, 2013 we had 105 adoptions and in 2014 we had 167 adoptions. This year in 2020, we are projecting to place over 500 dogs into happy homes! We operate solely on the generous donations from the public and our wonderful volunteers. We have added boarding to our facility and all proceeds from the boarding fees are used to help with our expenses so we can help more dogs find their forever homes.
Our mission is to Rescue-Nurture-Rehome dogs into loving and safe forever homes---We do it for the dogs!
