Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Name: Joanie
Nicknames: The manager (have you SEEN her recent haircut!?). Ms. Kitty.
Breed: Havenese mix? Shih Tzu mix? Depends on her haircut. Basically, she's small and cute.
Age: 2.5 years
Weight: 7lbs.
Before OMD: Found as a stray. Did her stray hold at the city shelter and officially became an OMD pup when a foster committed to her.
Energy Level: Lower, with moments of high. Loves to go for walks, but also thrilled to cuddle.
Velcro level: Quite sticky. Loves to cuddle. Loves to be within 6 inches of her people.
Best imitation: A cat. Loves to perch on the top of the couch.
Apartment friendliness: Low. Though she be little, she be loud. Will bark when she sees people or dogs walk by the windows/doors, or when foster mom steps outside for a few minutes. She can be left alone (foster mom works out of the home full-time) but will bark initially and takes some time to settle. Neighbors with shared walls may not appreciate....
What we love most: How she prances when she walks. How she eagerly shows off her howling & singing mashup when excited.
What she loves most: Toys (will carry them around and cuddle with them). More toys. Even more toys. Other toys.... Snuggling. Walks. Liver treats. Apples. Peanut Butter.
What she knows: She's pretty much genius level - Sit. Paw. Stand up. Dance. Chase your tail. Fix it (fix leash on walks)...no dice on "lay down" though.
Kids: Has not spent time around kids while in rescue, but we do not anticipate any issues with older, respectful kids.
Dogs: Yes, if the other dog is tolerant. She is friendly with dogs when out and about; currently fostered with a female Pug and gets jealous over foster mom's lap and attention.
Cats: Unknown
House-trained: Yes. Has had a handful of accidents, but are few and far between.
Crate-trained: Not so much. Fine going in it when the door is open, but when it's closed she gets anxious. Currently stays in a closed room when home alone.
Joanie is spayed, vaccinated, heartworm negative, and microchipped. She is available for adoption to residents of CT and surrounding states. If you are interested in adopting, please complete an application from omdrescue.org.
