My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We take the dogs that are adopted down...so if a dog is on the website they are available.

Obedience training and fully fenced in yard is required for all our pups.   Completion certificate for training needs to be emailed once complete.  When applying pictures/videos of your fully enclosed yard is needed.

Please only send inquiries to the email in this bio all others will not be answered. Please read the bio before sending questions - we answer all we know about the dog here. If the question is not answered in the bio please send emails to   info@HeidisLegacyDogRescue.com

Hi, I’m Douglas! I’m named after the road I was found on scared and alone. A nice family took me in, cleaned me up, helped me gain weight and even made sure I got all of my puppy shots! Now they are trying to help me find my forever home. The vet says I’m about 8 months old (EST DOB 06/20/2023) and some cheek swab thingy figured out I am a mostly Australian Cattle Dog/Terrier mixed breed. I’m a very playful, curious and energetic little fella! I love to do zoomies, army crawl across the living room on my belly and roll around to play on my back. I love playing fetch with a ball and spending time outside. I’m a chewer so sometimes I have to be redirected to my toys and bones so I don’t inadvertently eat my human’s socks or flip flops. I’m very trainable - I have learned to sit, sit and stay and shake. I’m a really sweet boy and am starting to mind my manners. I need someone who has the time and patience to work with me so I’m more consistent responding to commands. One of the best things about me is that I’m crate trained and I even go in there now without getting a treat when my family tells me to “go home”. They say I whine sometimes when I’m bored in my crate but it’s just because I want to come out to play and see everyone! I’m really good at taking naps and sleeping in my crate. I LOVE food, sometimes a little too much, but I’m not food aggressive. You can motivate me to do just about anything with a training treat! My rescue mom says I’m doing really well at sitting and staying before I get my food. The house I’m staying in has 10 year old twins. Sometimes I listen to them and follow their lead, other times I get confused and think they are pack playmates so I jump and nip (playfully). My rescuer has not seen me with younger kids so we are not sure how I would behave. I get along well with other dogs and love to rough play. My rescuer’s 5 year old 70 lb female pup is my favorite playmate! She loves to rough play with me and puts me in check when I need it. My rescue family says with some training and a lot of love and fun, I’m going to grow up to be a great dog! Douglas's adoption fee is $500 - obedience training is required after adoption- fully enclosed fenced back yard also required
