We wanted to give you an update on Gulaboo. If you remember she came to us just over a year ago. She has severe mental trauma (likely abuse) Gulaboo came in with the name Luna. At the time we had another Luna so Gulaboo was deemed Luna 2. As she settled into her foster home her foster family soon determined that the name Luna triggered fear for her, so Luna 2 beame Gulaboo. Gulaboo means pink rose. The Origin of the name is North India and comes from the Punjabi Culture
Foster mom reports Gulaboo is doing well. She's the cutest little thing. Foster mom has recently started her on social engagement and brain-stimulating exercise. Once a week they try to go to stores or visit friends. Gulaboo is slowly engaging with people. For her brain exercise, foster mom hides treats in her blanket or a towel and she will try to find them. Nights are Gulaboo’s biggest challenge. She's not sleeping. It's probably been about a month and a half that she has slept through the night. She wakes up 2 am and barks and it takes rest of the night to help settle her. We are looking into a behavior specialist for her. She has come a long way but still has much healing to do. She is not yet ready for adoption, however when she is, she will need a special family willing to adapt to her special needs and work around her PTSD which she will likely suffer from at least occasionally going forward.
