My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

LOCATION: McKinney, Texas
DOB: 11/23/2017 (Estimate)

This sweet fellow has quite the story. Cruiser is a distinguished male merle Great Dane who has embraced his mature years with grace and charm. His early years were lived outside on a chain, a life of loneliness and neglect that you would not have wanted for him. He's adapted well to indoor life and craves human companionship.
As a classic Velcro Dane, Cruiser loves to be by your side wherever you go. While he enjoys lounging on the couch and taking leisurely naps, he gets incredibly excited for his daily walks. He’s still learning leash manners. Initially enthusiastic, he may pull at first, but settles into a rhythm once he's in the groove.
When left alone, he spends his time in a kennel. He can be prone to boredom and may find himself shoes that you forgot to put away. He's potty trained and overall, a good boy. He is an experienced SURFER OF THE COUNTERTOPS, so in addition to putting your shoes away, make sure to DANE PROOF the kitchen. Hey- he loves snacks.
Despite his past experiences, Cruiser doesn't exhibit food aggression and is happy to share space with his foster sibling. While he's still learning to socialize with other dogs, slow introductions are key to his success in forming new friendships. He is definitely more adaptable to the female canine persuasion. He is dog selective so SLOW INTROS are a must.
Cruiser's foster mom affectionately calls him a "loverboy" for his warm nature and adoration of all humans. He's eager to please and will do anything for a tasty treat. His newfound love for toys, especially tennis balls, adds to his playful personality.
If you're looking for a big Ol goofy, loyal and loving companion, Cruiser is ready to steal your heart and become the newest member of your family. You should consider welcoming this sweet loverboy into your home?

More about this rescue

To rescue Great Danes from neglect, abuse, and abandonment while providing medical care and individual rehabilitation through our experienced and loving foster home program until we are able to provide each rescued Dane with a qualified, caring, and permanent home that will ensure a good quality of life they deserve.

To assist owners that cannot afford spaying, neutering or heartworm treatment as funds allow while also educating owners on affordable, local spay/neuter clinics, spay/neuter benefits, vaccinations, backyard breeding, behavior, nutrition, and obedience. Additionally, we want to be a link point to other rescues and clubs. Raising awareness around rescues and the Great Dane breed is of great importance to us.

We have been rescuing Great Danes since 2011 and we take pride in the collective love, concern, and dedication we have given to the misunderstood and forgotten Danes. It is our mission to continue to be the voices of the less fortunate Danes and to provide them safety and their birthright to a quality of life filled with love and dignity. You can help us achieve our mission by donating funds, items from our wishlist, items of relevance, your time through volunteering, or by lending your home as a foster.
