My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Santiago is a special pup who came to PACC with a group of more than 20 dogs. With so many dogs in one home, it’s difficult for everyone to get the love, care, and socialization that they need (and deserve). Santiago needs TLC and a bit of patience; he’s a shy boy who would like to take things slowly as he settles into a new home. But, Santiago has made tons of progress here in the shelter, so we know that his future is bright in a loving home!! Here’s what volunteers have said about him:

“Santiago is just a little head shy at first, so it’s helpful to utilize his love of treats. After getting a few treats, he would approach to sniff and lick my hand and let me pet him on his neck, shoulders, and chest by the end of our walk. He definitely warmed up. A very handsome and majestic guy. Sweet boy.”

“Just adding to the glowing notes from other volunteers. Santiago is a real sweetheart. I discovered that he is an absolute pro at catching treats in the air.”

“I love me some Santiago! This guy is so unique looking and just makes me smile every time I see him. He loves to get vocal when it`s time for his walk or he even thinks it should be time. He was pretty scared and shut down when he first arrived but he has really started to come into his own. He`s not too big on touch but allows a little and will definitely come for treats. He meanders around the play yard exploring and has been good with so many kennelmates. Santiago is just a gem and he would add character to any home. Just a cool dog!”

“Santiago takes scents very seriously and enjoys long walks where he can check everything out thoroughly. We were walking in the park when a loose dog came running up to Santiago, who did not react at all. This could have been an awful situation, but Santiago handled it so well. Very good boy.”

“Santiago is more confident and comfortable with handling. I`ve been taking him and his various kennelmates to the yard and he`s always polite. He came to me for affection too and I rewarded him with treats. I`m so proud him!”

“Santiago was nervous when I took he and his kennelmate to a play yard on Tuesday. His kennelmate was a social butterfly and it had a positive effect on Santiago. He followed her lead and came to me, made eye contact, and took cheese from my hand. He`s a sweetheart and will make a loyal pet once he has time to decompress and build trust.”

Santiago is a sweet, loving dog who will just need a bit of support from a
