Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Pellets: 1/4 cup oxbow adult pellets
Hay: Unlimited Mixed hay + small pile of mixed hay out of the litter box, cut smaller to make it easier to eat (and for ease of monitoring to see if eating hay).
Small amounts of critical care can be offered in a bowl to encourage eating if needed.
Salad: 1x a day 1 cup spring mix, parsley, cilantro, romaine lettuce cut really small to make it easier to eat (no incisors).
Spayed 11/16/2023
Emmy is an adorable harlequin lop with unique brown and white fur and beautiful blue eyes. She was dumped at the Department of Animal Services one week before Thanksgiving, covered in debris and with terribly overgrown teeth and nails. She was then adopted out in March of 2024. In October of 2024, we asked to take her back because the adopter could not care for her properly. Her peg tooth had grown out and upon an exam from our veterinarian, her back molars had grown, pinching the top of her mouth which is why she was not eating solids for a very long time. Once back, we had her peg tooth removed and her back molars trimmed and now she is eating her veggies and hay! All she needs is her veggies to be cut up in small pieces. Emmy is a calm and easygoing bunny, but don't let that fool you! You will often find her lounging in the sun and doing binkies when it's playtime! Emmy can be a little hesitant of people at first, but with time, she will open up. She is such a joy to be around and would appreciate a forever home that will give her the space to be herself.
Note: Emmy will need maintenance with possible molar trimmings.
Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease Virus (RHDV) is a highly contagious and deadly disease caused by a calicivirus that affects both wild and domestic rabbits. It is not contagious to people or other animals. For the first time, the virus is causing deaths in rabbits and hares native to North America and is spreading rapidly. UPDATE: In May 2021, California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) has confirmed new cases of RHDV in rabbits in Kern, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego and Ventura County. In addition to detection of RHDV2 in wild cottontail rabbits and jackrabbits, RHDV2 has been confirmed in domestic rabbits on 50 premises, including a detection in a feral domestic rabbit. More about this rescue
We are a volunteer-driven organization working in San Diego County for nearly 25 years. We want to ensure that rabbits are not adopted out unaltered, that they find good homes where they will be cherished as indoor family companions, and that we educate our community on the responsible care of indoor rabbit companions.
