My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

The heart on Mantis' forehead matches the heart she has for just about everything and everyone. This sweet princess is adoring and affectionate to her humans. The love she will have for her family is strong - she just wants to be near her person, whether for playtime, or a cuddle and nap.

Mantis' favorite things are her walks (she is excellent on a leash), sleeping, eating, and new toys. She is totally crate trained and doesn't get separation anxiety - just throw in a frozen peanut butter Kong or a squeaky toy and this girl is set! She is also great with guests and rarely barks. A true dream!

Mantis has nailed her potty training. Her foster mom has reported her as one of the easiest dogs she's ever had. She doesn't beg for food and waits patiently for treats. She will be a wonderful dog for a family looking for a gentle companion to brighten up their home.

Mantis has medium-to-high energy and will enjoy an active home with a yard, or a buddy who likes to go on long walks. The unconditional love you show her will be given back tenfold.

If you are looking for an active, affectionate companion who enjoys cuddles and long walks, Mantis would love to meet you!

Note: Mantis would do best as the only dog.

More about this rescue

ALIVE Rescue is a sustainable animal rescue group committed to protecting the lives and rights of animals. We believe that every animal has the right to a well-balanced, socialized and fulfilled life. We take on the responsibility to save, rehabilitate and place abandoned, abused and stray animals. Our rescue permanently houses and cares for the animals that cannot be placed into forever homes for the duration of their natural lives. We provide medical, behavioral and physical support for animals despite their age, health, and/or breed. At ALIVE Rescue, we promote sustainable living and care-giving by building awareness, appreciation and respect for all animals and the environment within our communities. We constantly work to educate the public on current animal issues, including the benefits of spaying/neutering pets.

Since our formation in 2008, ALIVE Rescue has rescued more than 1,600 animals in the Chicago area.
