Gus is an extremely intelligent, energetic 16 month old Catahoula mix. He is an amazing frisbee dog, walks very well on the leash, house trained, likes car rides, and knows many commands (sit, down, come, trade, set-up, in your spot, where's the dog/person, touch, spin, back, sits to go out/come in). He has been through three training sessions and passed both the Canine Good Citizen test and Community Canine test.
He does very well in the crate when left at home and overnight. When you say “in your spot” he races right into his crate. He is good with my cat and other dogs.
He is food motivated and learns very quickly. He can also be a bit stubborn and is constantly looking for things to do. He is learning how to settle in the house and does well hanging out in a fenced yard. To help him settle, I have utilized breaks in his crate. We go on regular hikes and he has learned to be neutral with people and is interested in other dogs and lets them pass without barking.
I am rehoming Gus because I am not able to meet his energetic needs. I have established a really solid foundation for him and am looking for someone who has the time to give him the attention and guidance he needs.

CRNE Adoption Application:
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1rjvYvkyGRug-gnCPcHFB49ksrZlQNlYQddGnkoVvNNA/viewform?fbclid=IwAR1Z3LWcB1HW2pncs-N64t1xdlD6Fm9P137xk6MErsLOE4ObXQ9erCAk-nM&edit_requested=true
Once your application has been received and reviewed, you will be contacted via email or phone by one of our volunteers. After your application is approved, the foster parent for the dog you have selected will contact you to answer any questions you may have and determine if that dog is a good match for your family.
If you have no particular dog in mind, we will be happy to keep your application on file and notify you if the right dog should come into rescue. Catahoula Rescue of New England is an all-volunteer group. Dogs in our program are fostered by volunteers. The foster homes care for our dogs as if they were their own. All dogs have received vaccinations appropriate to age and are spayed or neutered.
Gus’s adoption donation is $350 which includes Rabies, DHLPP, Bordetella, fecal test, heartworm test, is on preventative, microchip and neuter depending on age at time of adoption. If the dog is too young for a spay/neuter then they will be adopted with a spay/neuter contract and deposit. We do not have a physical shelter; all our dogs are fostered in individual foster homes across the New England and Canada.
