My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Solecito, a resilient and spirited 2-year-old pup with a heart as big as his will to overcome adversity. Solecito's journey to us was marked by odd circumstances, as he was relinquished under a cloud of mystery. The person who surrendered him claimed he had been fine until a few days before, when a tragic accident left him paralyzed in his hind limbs.

Upon closer examination, our veterinary team discovered the heartbreaking truth—Solecito had been silently suffering for months. A fractured vertebra near the top of his spine had robbed him of his ability to walk, and his hind limbs were now permanently paralyzed. The neglect he endured was evident in severe urine scaling on his belly and legs, along with rashes from dragging himself on the ground.

Despite the challenges Solecito faced, his indomitable spirit shines through. The window for surgical intervention has closed, but that doesn't dampen Solecito's zest for life. He may require special care, including having his bladder and bowels expressed several times a day, but he takes it all in stride, proving to be a good sport throughout.

Affectionately known as "Soley," this resilient canine is a social butterfly who adores people and gets along famously with other dogs. His love knows no bounds, and his enthusiasm for life is contagious. Solecito is an expert cuddler, always eager to be the center of attention. When mealtime approaches, he revs up his back legs, displaying a silly and endearing ritual that warms the hearts of those lucky enough to witness it.

Solecito's ideal adopter is someone with experience in caring for special needs dogs, as he requires a bit of extra attention and care. A loving and patient individual who can be present for him, ensuring he gets the special care he deserves, would make the perfect match for this extraordinary canine.

While Solecito's past may be marked by hardship, his future is filled with the promise of a better life. He's ready to embark on a new chapter, surrounded by the love and care he so richly deserves. If you're ready to open your heart to Solecito and be part of his journey, he's eagerly waiting to become a cherished member of your family. Please inquire today!

More about this rescue

Pug Nation Rescue of Los Angeles is a registered 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue, care, and placement of abandoned, neglected, unwanted, displaced, and abused pugs. Our goal is to find every homeless pug a forever home; if we cannot do that, we pledge to provide a comfortable and loving place for sick or unwanted pugs to live out their lives. Our Board of five and numerous volunteers are passionate about Pug Rescue and live by our motto of “One Pug at a Time”. We feel that through our efforts we can change many of these forgotten Pug’s lives. In order to find our Pugs a home as soon as possible, we hold at least three adoption fairs a month and also organize a number of fundraising events, including the annual Pugtacular festival and Legendary Bingo at Hamburger Mary’s in West Hollywood. These events and on-line fundraising have provided the money to help pay for vet treatments, medicine and loving care at our Pug Station. We rely on the generosity of our supporters through donations and participation in our fundraising activities. If you would like to make a donation, find out about the next event, become a volunteer, foster, or adopt your own rescue pug, you are in the right place! You can also follow us on Facebook and twitter, there is always something going on and new pugs needing your help.
