My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bolo has been a favorite for our Shelter Skip Days. Bolo has enjoyed trips to shopping centers, parks, a farm store, a dog boutique, and went to several homes to relax and get lots of attention. Bolo's report card would give him an A+ based on the feedback we are getting. Here are some of the reports:
- Bolo was a joy to have. He loves car rides and behaves well in the car. Bolo hardly barked and behaved very well when walking by another dog.
- Bolo was full of good energy (not overly energetic) and really enjoyed strolling, sniffing and hanging out with me and my kids. He was sweet, gentle and enjoyed getting treats and scratches. Not jumpy and did not pull much on the leash.
- Bolo was sweet and quiet, but also playful and energetic during our trip to the park. He seemed happy to relax in the grass after our walk. Likes walking, treats, and snuggling.
- Bolo was the perfect house guest. He went to the door to signal bathroom use. He LOVES squeaky toys. He's the perfect family dog who is not afraid of crazy kids playing around him. He is sweet, family oriented, and well mannered.
- We had a great time today with Bolo. We took him to get some doggy ice cream and he loved it! We also took him to a dog boutique and he had a great time shopping for treats.
- Consistently, it was noted by that Bolo is playful, loving, sweet, affectionate, exited, sweet, energetic, happy, friendly, affectionate, social and fun. He likes car rides, playing with toys, laying outside in the sunshine, and walking. He is also calm and laid back.

Bolo came to us when his owner died, and we are devoted to healing his heart with a forever home. Bolo was best friends with the owner, and they went everywhere together. Bolo has been around kids and did great. Bolo had a break from the shelter and was living in one of our awesome foster homes. It is noted that he settled in nicely and loved to lay on top of his human friends when it's time for bed. What a big cuddle bug! Come meet Bolo today!

More about this shelter

Founded in 1929, the Brandywine Valley SPCA is the first open admission shelter in Pennsylvania to achieve No Kill status and serves as the only open admission shelter in both Chester and Delaware Counties. In 2015, the BVSPCA opened its first Animal Health Center in Malvern, Pennsylvania, making veterinary care more accessible to local residents. In 2016, the BVSPCA took on a five-year contract with the Delaware Office of Animal Welfare to provide state-wide animal services, and expanded its reach further into the tri-state area by opening both a second shelter and a second Animal Health Center in New Castle County, Delaware. Shortly after, a PetSmart Everyday Adoption Center was opened in Dover, Delaware. Its mission is to put the “human” back in humane animal treatment and to advocate on their behalf. Each year, the BVSPCA cares for more than 10,000 stray, owner-surrendered, wayward owned, and abused and neglected animals.
