Tigre's journey began when he was surrendered to the South LA Shelter due to his former guardians' move. Spending 588 days at the shelter, he captured the hearts of staff and volunteers alike. Thankfully, instead of being euthanized, he became a cherished member of Frosted Faces Rescue on November 1, 2023 at the age of 15. He weighs 52 lbs.
Despite his past, Tigre radiates love and trust towards humans, readily making himself at home in laps and proving to be an exceptional hiking companion with boundless energy. While he may have lacked social skills with other dogs due to his solitary upbringing, his time in a foster home through the Molly & Me Project has highlighted his wonderful, loving nature.
Tigre's Foster Mom shares:
"It has been so fun over the last couple months as Tigre's foster mom to witness his growth and see his true personality shine! Tigre would make a wonderful companion to someone who's looking for a fun dog with major personality, but with a mellow and sweet disposition. There's never a dull moment with him around!
Here are some of my favorite things about Tigre, AKA Teegie, Mr. T, The Teegster, and Teegs:
- Tigre loves everyone! He is such a sweetheart and will greet everyone he meets with his signature low tail wags and gentle disposition. Everyone who meets him loves him!
- He's mastered "sit," "shake," and "down" and is still learning "roll over", but he's been doing it most of the time! Treats are a good motivator. He is so smart and eager to please!
- He has major Resting Pit Face, especially when he's happy and content. But he also has the best smile that's usually on full display during long walks!
- Tigre likes toys and has learned that we play with toys, not his his foster mom's shoes (lol)! I got him a toy box where we keep all of his toys and he will go and select one to play with each night. Other than this, he is not super playful, but just very mellow in a home.
- Tigre loves to wear clothes. Dress him up in all the latest dog fashions and he will strut around like he's a model.
- The only one with separation anxiety is me. I will check the dog camera while I'm at work and he's always snoozing away while I'm gone. He loves having the apartment to himself so he can take over my bed and get his 9+ hours of beauty sleep (no wonder he's so handsome!).
- This boy absolutely lives for squishy face pets and kisses. He loves being told he's a good boy. Bonus points when you acknowledge his big morning stretches.
- Tigre loves a good sunset. One of his favorite things to do is sit on your lap and watch the sunset with you.
- On long walks, I'll have him take a break and ask if he's tired. He'll look at me with the most unimpressed face, appalled by the accusation.
- Each night around 9 or 10pm, he will jump up onto my bed for the night and sleep comfortably through the night on his spot.
- Tigre is very quiet and rarely barks. When he does, it's the cutest, softest little old man bark ever.
- Though it's just me and him in my small apartment, I think he would also do well with a family and/or in a home with a nice backyard where he can frequently partake in one of his favorite activities: sunbathing!
- Tigre has many more years and funny antics in him!
Teegs is the best boy. He is so sweet and such a love. He's made so much progress during our time together, and I couldn't be more proud of him! Tigre will be the best sidekick and lovebug to his forever family. Adopt Tigre for endless laughs and lots of love!"
Tigre is doing great in his foster home but is still on the lookout for a forever home. Might that be with you?
